Crittenden County, Arkansas, was formed 22 October 1825 — the 12th county in Arkansas Territory — and named for Robert Crittenden. Official county site: rich Delta farmland with the Mississippi River as the eastern wall and Memphis, Tennessee, just across the river. Marion is the county seat. West Memphis is the large city. West Memphis is not the county government. The first seat was Greenock. The seat moved to Marion in 1836. It has not moved to West Memphis. Earle, Turrell, Gilmore, and Horseshoe Lake are not the hall.
