Domain structure (what to review)

AdSense site registration uses the root domain theamericans.us because Google does not accept subdomains as separate site entries. Monetization and publisher content for review are concentrated on typhoon.theamericans.us under the same publisher ID.

What we changed for policy compliance

Previous automated checks flagged issues consistent with ads without sufficient publisher content and low-value / utility screens on the community WordPress site (directories, activity, and similar non-article surfaces).

We remediated as follows:

1. WordPress (root) — ads off

• Google Site Kit AdSense snippet is not used as the live ad vehicle on WordPress.
• Theme-level hard block: ads are forced off on the WordPress/BuddyPress site (ta_adsense_enable_on_wordpress = false).
• Result: community, members, activity, and other utility screens do not load AdSense.

2. Typhoon — original publisher content

• Built and published original educational briefings in content libraries:
  • America (~50)
  • USA (~50)
  • The Americans (~50)
  • Counties (~3,152 counties & county-equivalents)
  • Sheriff Elections (~3,152 election-themed briefings—office role, voter process, official-source verification)
• Each library page is a full briefing (introduction, discussion points, closing, summary)—not thin doorway pages.
• Core advocacy pages: Platform, Get Involved, About / How We Publish, 1200.

3. Ad placement rules (typhoon)

AdSense loader (pagead2.googlesyndication.com / ca-pub-3799873748502990) is included only on normal content templates.

Ads are intentionally blocked on:

• Search tool page: The Americans Search Engine
• Error / 404 pages

Ads are allowed on:

• Homepage, platform, about, legal, and content library articles

Content photography & place media

Library articles use lightweight photographic JPEGs (approximately 1200×675, typically under 100 KB). Images are either site-owned assets or free-license stock (Unsplash). Abstract filler graphics are not used. A credit list lives at the server media pack (user/assets/content-media/CREDITS.md). Legal and utility pages (privacy, search tool, errors) do not carry decorative stock images.

County and sheriff library media standards

For Counties and Sheriff Elections briefings we apply these rules:

1. Each page has its own cover file (featured.jpg) for visual variety and performance.
2. Captions must not falsely claim that a statewide landmark is a unique “famous feature of” every county in that state (for example labeling every Alabama county “USS Alabama Battleship,” or every California county “Golden Gate Bridge”).
3. State/regional landmarks may be used only as honest regional orientation, clearly labeled as state or regional context, not as if the landmark sits inside that specific county.
4. Place-true facts (county seat, population, official offices) come from the written Place snapshot and from official .gov / local government sources—not from the cover photo alone.
5. We continue improving place-specific media quality over time; reviewers should judge educational text, disclaimers, and verification links as the primary publisher content.

• Google AdSense loads only after Accept (or when consent was previously stored as accepted).
