Sheriff Election — Plymouth County, Massachusetts

Plymouth Sheriff · the arena · shire town and mill city hire this desk · not a federal hire · not 2026
This is Side Two
This page is the arena for this office, this cycle. Unique teaching for the job lives on the office twin. The county as a place — intact government, Plymouth, Brockton, not the Cape — is taught at Plymouth County.
It is not a campaign. Names belong on the official sample ballot. No crown.
Two clocks, one job that is not federal
Massachusetts sheriffs sit for six years. The Secretary of the Commonwealth lists Sheriff elections in 2028, 2034, 2040. Takes office the first Wednesday in January. All fourteen last stood in 2022.
Plymouth also elects county commissioners (four years, overlapping: 2026, 2028, 2030) and a county treasurer (six years: 2026, 2032, 2038). Those are different offices. A 2026 commissioner flyer is not this Sheriff hire. Do not assume 2026 for Sheriff. Franklin’s 2026 vacancy is Franklin.
You are not hiring a federal immigration officer. ICE is a federal agency. The Massachusetts Constitution hired a county Sheriff. Read the office page before the flyer.
Confirm the date on the Secretary of the Commonwealth.
Sample ballot wins
Do not take names from a news comment or a waterfront argument.
- Official candidate list / sample ballot — Secretary of the Commonwealth
- Voter status
- Current Sheriff of record — official Plymouth County Sheriff’s Office / Mass.gov sheriffs list
- City and town clerks on this map — Plymouth, Brockton, Wareham, Hingham, and the rest — for local filing questions
If a site and the official sample ballot disagree, the sample ballot wins.
What you are hiring
You are hiring the Sheriff of Plymouth County — jail and house of correction at 26 Long Pond Road, civil process at 24 Long Pond Road, court transport and security in Plymouth and Brockton. You are not hiring a county commissioner. You are not hiring Brockton Police. You are not hiring the Barnstable County Sheriff. You are not hiring a federal agency. Read the office page first.
Rights, remedy, relief, service, due process
Humane custody. Honest papers. Honest night count. Remedy for a jail wrong is the office’s official complaint door and the courts. Relief in a nor’easter is this count first. Service of process is a person at a door in Brockton. Due process does not pause for a postcard. Equal protection from Hingham to Wareham.
