Lawrence County, Arkansas, was erected 15 January 1815 by the Missouri Legislature — the second county, named for Capt. James Lawrence. Walnut Ridge is the sole seat after voters consolidated two districts in 1963. It is not the capital of Arkansas. Little Rock is. Powhatan was the western seat (1869–1963) and the eastern partner after 1887. It is now Powhatan Historic State Park. It is not the live hall. Hoxie is the twin city — not the hall. Black Rock, Imboden, Strawberry, Alicia, Lynn, Minturn, and Smithville are places in this county — they are not the hall. A campus in Walnut Ridge is not 315 West Main. Crime in unincorporated Lawrence — Hoxie remainder, Black Rock remainder, Imboden country — is this Sheriff. Crime in Walnut Ridge is often Walnut Ridge Police. This Sheriff is not that badge. County and ASA list the Lawrence County Detention Center at 501 West Elm. That house is this badge’s shop — ASA 100 beds, male and female. It is not the historic Powhatan jail exhibit. It is not ADC. Do not send a family looking for a county booking to Powhatan Historic State Park, to Moulton, or to Little Rock.
