Glenn County, California
Willows is the seat · Sacramento is the capital · not Orland

Glenn County is a north Sacramento Valley general-law county split from Colusa in 1891. Willows is the seat. Sacramento is the capital of California. Orland is a city — not the hall. This Sheriff still holds the jail at 141 South Lassen Street. Sheriff is not the 2026 Governor oval — next regular is the 2028 presidential primary.

Glenn County, California

Glenn County, California — Willows north-valley civic land, Sacramento is the capital, Orland is a city not the hall, not a Colusa rename. — educational cover

Glenn County · Willows is the seat · Sacramento is the capital of California · Orland is a city · Hamilton City is a town · Colusa is a different county

Willows is the seat. Sacramento is the capital. Orland is a city, not the hall.

Glenn County, California, was created 5 March 1891 from the north of Colusa, and named for Dr. Hugh J. Glenn — a wheat farmer, not the City of Orland as the whole county. Willows is the county seat (fixed 11 March 1891). Sacramento is the capital of California. Willows is not the capital. Orland is not the seat. Do not read this page as Autauga-with-wheat. Do not read this page as Colusa-with-a-rename. Do not read this page as Alameda-with-rice. Prattville is Autauga. Colusa is Colusa. Oakland is Alameda. None of those is this oval.

Orland is a city — not the hall. The City of Willows is a municipality — not the whole county government. Only two incorporated cities sit on this map: Willows and Orland. Hamilton City, Elk Creek, Butte City, Artois, Glenn, and Capay are unincorporated communities — remainder, not a second seat. Colusa is south — Colusa is that hall. Butte is east — Oroville is that hall. Tehama is north — Red Bluff is that hall. Mendocino is west — Ukiah is that hall. Lake is southwest — Lakeport is that hall.

This page is Side One for the place. The Sheriff’s job — north-valley remainder patrol and the Lassen Street jail this badge still holds — is taught at Office of the Sheriff — Glenn County.

Five Supervisors at 525 West Sycamore. They do not sit as Colusa’s board.

Glenn is a general law county. A five-member Board of Supervisors, elected by district, sits at 525 West Sycamore Street, Suite B1, Willows, CA 95988. They fund roads, the Sycamore courthouse, and the Sheriff’s budget. They do not hire the Sheriff. The people do. Willows City Council is a city body. Orland City Council is a city body. The California Legislature sits in Sacramento. Colusa’s Board sits in Colusa. None of those is this Board.

Glenn Superior Court lists at 526 West Sycamore Street, Willows, CA 95988. Do not invent one rice check as the whole map. Do not invent an Orland courtroom as this hall. Confirm live at countyofglenn.net and glenn.courts.ca.gov.

The Sheriff is a county officer (California Constitution Article XI; Government Code § 24000). This Sheriff is not on the 2026 gubernatorial table. Elections Code § 1300 (AB 759, 2022) moved sheriff and district attorney to the presidential primary. A sheriff elected in 2022 serves a six-year term; the next regular is the 2028 presidential primary. Glenn has no charter that could have locked a gubernatorial-year date before 1 January 2021. Last regular 7 June 2022. Take office at noon on the first Monday after January 1 succeeding election (Gov. Code § 24200). The Governor is 2026. That is a different desk in Sacramento.

I-5 is a corridor. Stony Creek is water. Butte is a different county.

Interstate 5 is the spine. State Route 32 runs east toward Chico — still this county until the Butte line. State Route 45 follows the Sacramento. State Route 162 climbs west toward Elk Creek and the Mendocino National Forest. The Sacramento River is water, not a Colusa badge and not a Butte badge. Rice, almonds, walnuts, and olives are crops. The Sacramento National Wildlife Refuge complex sits on this map — a refuge, not this government. Staff who paste an I-5 photograph onto Sycamore Street, or treat Orland as this county government, or file Willows as the capital, or rewrite this county as Colusa-with-a-rename, are on the wrong county.

How a north-valley public finds Sycamore, Oak Street, and Lassen

Board of Supervisors / Clerk of the Board: 525 West Sycamore Street, Suite B1, Willows. Superior Court: 526 West Sycamore Street. Sheriff Administration: 543 West Oak Street, Willows, CA 95988(530) 934-6441. Dispatch (530) 934-6431. Glenn County Jail: 141 South Lassen Street, Willows, CA 95988(530) 934-6428. Elections / Clerk-Recorder: 516 West Sycamore Street, 2nd Floor, Willows(530) 934-6412. Confirm live at countyofglenn.net. A student who only knows a rice postcard, or a Sacramento photograph as this county, or treats Orland City Hall as the jail, has not found this campus.

141 Lassen still jails. Orland PD does not. Willows PD does not.

Crime in unincorporated Glenn — Hamilton City, Elk Creek, Butte City, Artois, and the remainder — is this Sheriff. Crime in Willows is often Willows Police. Crime in Orland is often Orland Police. This Sheriff is not those municipal departments. Glenn County Jail at 141 South Lassen Street is this Sheriff’s house. Public listings: opened 1989; beds near 148. Official doors did not show a separate county Department of Corrections taking this house — do not invent a jailer split.

CDCR is not this Sheriff. CHP is a state badge on I-5. Do not send a family looking for a county booking to Willows PD, to Orland PD, or to Colusa’s Bridge Street house.

Care without inventing the Sacramento National Wildlife Refuge as this county

A peace order served in Hamilton City remainder. A court-ordered transport from 141 Lassen to 526 Sycamore. Boating on the Sacramento the office actually posts. Do not invent a church. Do not invent a refuge as this oval. Do not invent Sacramento as this hall.

What Glenn actually watches

Court calendar on Sycamore. A wreck on I-5. Fog on the rice checks. Wind on the west-side toward Mendocino National Forest. High water on the Sacramento and Stony Creek. Fire in the west-side timber. Coordination with Willows PD, Orland PD, and CHP without becoming those departments. Coordination with Colusa’s Sheriff or Butte’s Sheriff is mutual aid between two offices, not a merger. Wheat is history. I-5 is a highway. Neither is Orland PD as this oval.
