There is no second city that can pretend to be the hall. This is not Bullock County, Georgia — that seat is Statesboro. Montgomery is the capital of Alabama. It sits next door in Montgomery County. It does not sit here. Clayton is Barbour. Tuskegee is Macon.

Second Empire on Prairie Street is the court. The 1897 jail is a museum.
The Bullock County Courthouse at 217 North Prairie Street (built 1871–1872) is the only Second Empire-style courthouse in Alabama. Circuit, District, and Probate sit there. The 3rd Judicial Circuit pairs this county with Barbour. The old 1897 Pauly jail behind the courthouse, on Hardaway, is a museum — original trapdoor, Victorian Gothic, not today’s booking. Staff who paste a Georgia courthouse onto Prairie Street, or treat the museum jail as live custody, or file “Statesboro Sheriff,” are on the wrong county.
U.S. 82 and U.S. 29 are the through roads. Macon is north. Russell is east. Barbour is southeast. Pike is south. Montgomery is west.

Do not paste that state house onto Prairie Street. Do not send a family looking for a county booking to 104 Bullock Drive. Do not send them to the 1897 jail museum. Civil process and courthouse security at 217 North Prairie are the Sheriff. Rights do not change in the Black Belt. Remedy for Union Springs Police is the City. Remedy for a Sheriff’s paper is the Sheriff. Relief when the prairie floods is this count first.

Coordination with Barbour’s Sheriff (same 3rd Circuit) is mutual aid between two offices, not a merger. Small population does not shrink the Constitution.
