What this office is
A United States Senator is a federal legislator elected by the whole state. New Mexico has two Senate seats. This page is Class II — one of those two. The term is six years. Class II last stood in the regular election of 2020. The next regular election is Tuesday, November 3, 2026. The term of record runs through 3 January 2027.
New Mexico has no Class III. The other seat is Class I.
This is not a House district. Clovis is not Taos. Carlsbad is not Gallup. They still hire the same Senator. Santa Fe remains the capital on this twin too.

How the job fits this community
Class II is the seat on the 2026 ballot. The inbox is a state inbox: a capital file from the Roundhouse, an Albuquerque file that is not Santa Fe, a southeastern oil-and-potash file, a northern river-valley file, and a Navajo or pueblo file that is not a tourism brochure.
Federal work here is IHS, SSA, veterans’ claims, a delayed water compact, a lab, a range, and a drought year that is not a Plaza story. The Senator is the human hinge between this map and Washington.
Harding County still writes letters. The bosque is not a postcard.
