How the job fits this community
Ohio’s congressional map for the 2026 ballot is the map the Ohio Redistricting Commission adopted on 31 October 2025. The Secretary of State says those federal lines are the ones used beginning with the 2026 cycle. The 2022 four-year map is retired. Confirm on the Secretary of State, district maps, voter lookup, and the commission.
The 5th is the lower northwest and the middle Lake Erie shore: Findlay, Bowling Green, Lorain, Oberlin, and neighbors. Lorain County and the lake towns can sit next to more than one seat — confirm the address. This is not Toledo (that is the 9th).
Federal work here is a campus town, a refining-and-farm city, and a lake industrial shore. Bowling Green files a university inbox. Findlay files a plant. Lorain files a Great Lakes city. The same Member holds all three — and does not hold Toledo.
The Representative is the human hinge between this lake-and-northwest map and Washington.
What the job entails

- The purse. The House originates revenue bills. Appropriations decide what actually gets built or staffed.

There is no single Tuesday. In Washington: a visitor from Findlay and a visitor from Lorain. In the district: an inland desk and a lake stop.
