How the job fits this community
New York’s congressional map for the 2026 ballot is the map the legislature passed and the Governor signed on 28 February 2024 (S.8653A / A.9310A). It is not the 2022 special-master map. A January 2026 order against the 11th was stayed by the U.S. Supreme Court on 2 March 2026; that case was then dismissed. Confirm on the State Board of Elections and voter lookup. Upstate is split. Look up the address.
The 24th is the Lake Ontario shore: Watertown, Oswego, Lockport, Canandaigua, Geneva, plus Wayne, Orleans, Genesee, and Wyoming. This is not Syracuse (the old 24th). Rochester is the 25th. Plattsburgh is the 21st. Confirm the city.
Federal work here is a lake-shore inbox and a Finger-Lakes inbox. Watertown files a city next to a fort that sits in the 21st. Oswego files a port. Lockport files a canal city. Canandaigua and Geneva file a lake. Staff who still file Syracuse here are on the 2013–2023 map.
The Representative is the human hinge between this Ontario-shore map and Washington.
What the job entails
- Legislate. Introduce and cosponsor bills. Sit on committees. Vote.
- The purse. The House originates revenue bills. Appropriations decide what actually gets built or staffed.

There is no single Tuesday. In Washington: a visitor from Watertown and a visitor from Lockport. In the district: a lakeshore day.
