What this office is
A United States Representative is a federal legislator elected from one congressional district. Florida’s 24th is one of the state’s 28 House seats. The term is two years. The whole House stands for election every even-numbered year.
This page is Side One: inform, educate, inspire. It is not the race, not legal advice, and not an official government notice. For the 2026 cycle, use the election twin.

How the job fits this community
Florida’s congressional map for the 2026 ballot is HB 1D, signed 4 May 2026. The 1st through 7th were not redrawn. This seat moved. Litigation is pending. Unless a court says otherwise, HB 1D is the map. Confirm on the Division of Elections and voter lookup. Look up the address.
The 24th is redrawn. It shifts north in Broward — including part of Hollywood — and runs south into Miami-Dade for part of Miami and all of Miami Gardens. Miami Beach left. Confirm Broward and Miami-Dade on the official lookup.
Federal work here is a two-county inbox. Hollywood files a Broward coastal city. Miami Gardens files a north-Dade city. A Miami slice files downtown-adjacent casework. Staff who still file Miami Beach here are on the 2022 map.
The Representative is the human hinge between this Hollywood-and-Miami-Gardens map and Washington.
What the job entails
- Legislate. Introduce and cosponsor bills. Sit on committees. Vote.
- The purse. The House originates revenue bills. Appropriations decide what actually gets built or staffed.
- Oversight. Hearings and letters that watch the executive branch.
- Casework. SSA, VA, IRS, USCIS, military records, passports.
- District presence. Town halls, city halls, employers, schools — the district is the employer.
- Two homes. Washington for votes and committees. The district for the people who hired the office.
What a day is like
There is no single Tuesday. In Washington: a visitor from Hollywood and a visitor from Miami Gardens. In the district: a Broward desk and a Miami-Dade desk.
The staff is the office. A serious Member is a serious principal: clear priorities, honest casework, no rumor as policy.
