What this office is
A United States Representative is a federal legislator elected from one congressional district. Florida’s 22nd is one of the state’s 28 House seats. The term is two years. The whole House stands for election every even-numbered year.
This page is Side One: inform, educate, inspire. It is not the race, not legal advice, and not an official government notice. For the 2026 cycle, use the election twin.

How the job fits this community
Florida’s congressional map for the 2026 ballot is HB 1D, signed 4 May 2026. The 1st through 7th were not redrawn. This seat moved. Litigation is pending. Unless a court says otherwise, HB 1D is the map. Confirm on the Division of Elections and voter lookup. Look up the address.
The 22nd is one of the seats that moved the most. It used to be the Palm Beach coast — West Palm Beach, Lantana, Delray Beach, Boynton Beach, plus Wellington. HB 1D sends the coast to the 23rd. The new 22nd keeps Wellington, takes Parkland, and runs west through Hendry into southern Collier, including Marco Island. Confirm on VotePalmBeach.
Federal work here is an inland-suburb inbox and a far-west inbox. Wellington files a planned city. Parkland files a Broward suburb. Hendry and Marco Island file rural and island desks this office did not used to carry. Staff who still file Delray or Boynton here are on the 2022 map.
The Representative is the human hinge between this Wellington-to-Marco map and Washington.
What the job entails
- Legislate. Introduce and cosponsor bills. Sit on committees. Vote.
- The purse. The House originates revenue bills. Appropriations decide what actually gets built or staffed.
- Oversight. Hearings and letters that watch the executive branch.
- Casework. SSA, VA, IRS, USCIS, military records, passports.
- District presence. Town halls, city halls, employers, schools — the district is the employer.
- Two homes. Washington for votes and committees. The district for the people who hired the office.
What a day is like
There is no single Tuesday. In Washington: a visitor from Wellington and a visitor from Marco Island. In the district: a Palm Beach desk and a Collier desk.
The staff is the office. A serious Member is a serious principal: clear priorities, honest casework, no rumor as policy.
