What this office is

A United States Representative is a federal legislator elected from one congressional district. Florida’s 15th is one of the state’s 28 House seats. The term is two years. The whole House stands for election every even-numbered year.

This page is Side One: inform, educate, inspire. It is not the race, not legal advice, and not an official government notice. For the 2026 cycle, use the election twin.

Confirm the current Member and the official map on House.gov — Find your Representative and the Clerk of the House.

How the job fits this community

Florida’s congressional map for the 2026 ballot is HB 1D, signed 4 May 2026. The 1st through 7th were not redrawn. This seat moved. Tampa is now split three ways. Pinellas County is the 13th and the 16th only. Litigation is pending. Unless a court says otherwise, HB 1D is the map. Confirm on the Division of Elections and voter lookup. Look up the address.

The 15th is redrawn. It runs from part of Tampa north through Pasco to all of Hernando and all of Citrus — Crystal River, Inverness, Brooksville. That Nature Coast geography left the 12th. The old 15th’s Polk piece was dropped. Confirm the county.

Federal work here is a Tampa-split inbox and a Nature Coast inbox. Hillsborough files one slice of a three-way city. Hernando and Citrus file counties that used to sit with Pasco in the 12th. Staff who still file this as a Polk seat, or who file Citrus back into the 12th, are on the 2022 map.

The Representative is the human hinge between this Tampa-to-Citrus map and Washington.

What the job entails

  • Legislate. Introduce and cosponsor bills. Sit on committees. Vote.
  • The purse. The House originates revenue bills. Appropriations decide what actually gets built or staffed.
  • Oversight. Hearings and letters that watch the executive branch.
  • Casework. SSA, VA, IRS, USCIS, military records, passports.
  • District presence. Town halls, city halls, employers, schools — the district is the employer.
  • Two homes. Washington for votes and committees. The district for the people who hired the office.

What a day is like

There is no single Tuesday. In Washington: a visitor from Tampa and a visitor from Citrus. In the district: a Hillsborough desk and a Nature Coast desk.

The staff is the office. A serious Member is a serious principal: clear priorities, honest casework, no rumor as policy.

Place snapshot (verify official sources)

  • State: Florida · Seat: District 15 of 28
  • On HB 1D (redrawn): part of Tampa + Pasco + all Hernando + all Citrus
  • Polk left. Citrus and Hernando are not the 12th.

Orientation adapted from public congressional-district descriptions and Florida official election sources for education. The map and the Member of record are whatever the Division of Elections and House.gov say today.

What this is not

  • Not a U.S. Senator (statewide, six-year term).
  • Not the Governor.
  • Not a county commission, or a mayor.
  • Not a campaign flyer. This page does not tell anyone who to vote for.
