What this office is
A United States Representative is a federal legislator elected from one congressional district. Florida’s 14th is one of the state’s 28 House seats. The term is two years. The whole House stands for election every even-numbered year.
This page is Side One: inform, educate, inspire. It is not the race, not legal advice, and not an official government notice. For the 2026 cycle, use the election twin.

How the job fits this community
Florida’s congressional map for the 2026 ballot is HB 1D, signed 4 May 2026. The 1st through 7th were not redrawn. This seat moved. Tampa is now split three ways. Pinellas County is the 13th and the 16th only. Litigation is pending. Unless a court says otherwise, HB 1D is the map. Confirm on the Division of Elections and voter lookup. Look up the address.
The 14th is redrawn. It left Pinellas and now sits wholly in Hillsborough, shifted south and west. Tampa is split with the 15th and the 16th. This is not the old Tampa-plus-St.-Pete 14th. Confirm on VoteHillsborough.
Federal work here is a Hillsborough inbox with no Pinellas desk. South and west county file the new core. St. Petersburg files another seat. Staff who still file a Pinellas precinct here, or who treat all of Tampa as this office, are on a retired map.
The Representative is the human hinge between this Hillsborough-only map and Washington.
What the job entails
- Legislate. Introduce and cosponsor bills. Sit on committees. Vote.
- The purse. The House originates revenue bills. Appropriations decide what actually gets built or staffed.
- Oversight. Hearings and letters that watch the executive branch.
- Casework. SSA, VA, IRS, USCIS, military records, passports.
- District presence. Town halls, city halls, employers, schools — the district is the employer.
- Two homes. Washington for votes and committees. The district for the people who hired the office.
What a day is like
There is no single Tuesday. In Washington: a visitor from Tampa and a visitor from south Hillsborough. In the district: a city desk and a south-county desk.
The staff is the office. A serious Member is a serious principal: clear priorities, honest casework, no rumor as policy.
