What this office is
A United States Representative is a federal legislator elected from one congressional district. Florida’s 12th is one of the state’s 28 House seats. The term is two years. The whole House stands for election every even-numbered year.
This page is Side One: inform, educate, inspire. It is not the race, not legal advice, and not an official government notice. For the 2026 cycle, use the election twin.
Confirm the current Member and the official map on House.gov — Find your Representative and the Clerk of the House.
How the job fits this community
Florida’s congressional map for the 2026 ballot is HB 1D, signed 4 May 2026. The 1st through 7th were not redrawn. The 8th was the first seat that moved. This seat moved. Litigation is pending. Unless a court says otherwise, HB 1D is the map. Confirm on the Division of Elections and voter lookup. Look up the address.
The 12th is redrawn. It keeps Pasco and moves south into northwest Hillsborough. Citrus and Hernando left — Crystal River, Inverness, Brooksville, and Spring Hill’s Hernando side are the 15th. This is not the old Nature Coast 12th. Confirm Pasco and Hillsborough on the official lookup.
Federal work here is a Pasco inbox and a new Hillsborough inbox. New Port Richey and Dade City file the remaining Pasco core. Northwest Hillsborough files a suburban county this office did not used to carry on the 2022 Nature Coast line. Staff who still file Citrus or Hernando here are on a retired map.
The Representative is the human hinge between this Pasco-and-northwest-Hillsborough map and Washington.
What the job entails
- Legislate. Introduce and cosponsor bills. Sit on committees. Vote.
- The purse. The House originates revenue bills. Appropriations decide what actually gets built or staffed.
- Oversight. Hearings and letters that watch the executive branch.
- Casework. SSA, VA, IRS, USCIS, military records, passports.
- District presence. Town halls, city halls, employers, schools — the district is the employer.
- Two homes. Washington for votes and committees. The district for the people who hired the office.
What a day is like
There is no single Tuesday. In Washington: a visitor from Pasco and a visitor from northwest Hillsborough. In the district: a Pasco desk and a Hillsborough desk.
The staff is the office. A serious Member is a serious principal: clear priorities, honest casework, no rumor as policy.

Orientation adapted from public congressional-district descriptions and Florida official election sources for education. The map and the Member of record are whatever the Division of Elections and House.gov say today.
