Sheriff Election — Suffolk County, Massachusetts

Suffolk Sheriff · the arena · educational cover · not the Mayor’s race
This is Side Two
This page is the arena for this office, this cycle. Unique teaching for the job lives on the office twin. The county as a place is taught at Suffolk County.
It is not a campaign. Names belong on the official sample ballot.
When
Massachusetts sheriffs sit for six years. All fourteen last stood in a regular cycle in 2022. Unless a vacancy or special statute says otherwise, the next regular hiring is the 2028 cycle. Confirm the date on the Secretary of the Commonwealth. Do not assume 2026. Do not assume the same Tuesday as the Mayor of Boston 2029 clock. Those are different offices and different calendars.
Who is on the ballot
Do not take names from a news comment or a text thread.
- Official candidate list / sample ballot — Secretary of the Commonwealth
- Voter status
- Current Sheriff of record — official Suffolk County Sheriff’s Office / Mass.gov sheriffs list
- Municipal clerks in Boston, Chelsea, Revere, and Winthrop for local filing questions
If a site and the official sample ballot disagree, the sample ballot wins.
What you are hiring
You are hiring the Sheriff of Suffolk County — jail and house of correction, court transport and security, civil process — for Boston, Chelsea, Revere, and Winthrop. You are not hiring the Mayor of Boston. You are not hiring a police chief. Read the office page first.
