RSA 653:1 Coos proviso: at the 2024 state general, and each subsequent, Coos county officers are chosen for a 4-year term. The SOS How County Officers Are Elected table: 2022 two-year, 2024 four-year, no election 2026, four-year 2028, no election 2030.
Tuesday, 3 November 2026 is not a Coös sheriff general. The Governor is 2026. The General Court is 2026. Class II U.S. Senate is 2026. This desk is not. Next regular hiring: Tuesday, 7 November 2028. Primary that cycle: confirm the SOS calendar when 2028 posts. Takes office RSA 653:10.
Rockingham is the other four-year county and is 2026 — it started in 2022. They are out of phase. The other eight remain two-year and are 2026. Do not paste any of those tables onto Lancaster.
A vacancy before 2028 is the county convention (RSA 661:9), not a made-up November oval. Age seventy vacates the chair.

What you are not hiring this year
You are not hiring a Coös Sheriff on the 2026 general. You are hiring a Governor, a General Court, and other county officers only if the SOS table puts them on. Read the office page for the job you will hire in 2028: civil process, court, transport. Not the jail superintendent. Not Berlin Police. Not Quebec.
North Country rights do not wait
A wrong paper or a mistreated transport in 2026 is still a complaint door and the courts. Relief when 3 is the only road is still this county’s mutual aid. Service of process is still a person at a door in Clarksville. Due process does not pause because the next oval is 2028. Equal protection from Shelburne to Pittsburg.
