Sheriff Election — Caledonia County, Vermont

Caledonia Sheriff · the arena · St. J. hires this desk · not Newport
This is Side Two
This page is the arena for this office, this cycle. Unique teaching for the job lives on the office twin. The Kingdom as three counties is taught at Caledonia County.
It is not a campaign. Names belong on the official sample ballot. No crown.
When the middle Kingdom hires
Four years (Chapter II, § 50). Takes office 1 February. Last regular 2022. SOS lists Sheriff for 2026. Primary 11 August 2026. General Tuesday, 3 November 2026. Take-office after a regular 2026 win: 1 February 2027.
Orleans and Essex hire their own sheriffs on the same statewide clock. That does not make this a Kingdom-wide race. The Governor’s two-year desk is not this hire.
County-office petitions: 100 signatures, major-party filing with the county clerk. Vermont mails the general ballot by October 1 — vote.vermont.gov. Polls close 7 p.m. Confirm on the Secretary of State.
Sample ballot wins
Do not take names from a Kingdom slogan or a Railroad Street rumor.
- Official candidate list / sample ballot — Secretary of State
- Vermont Voter Portal
- Current Sheriff of record — official Caledonia County Sheriff’s Department site
- Town clerks from St. Johnsbury to Newark
If a site and the official sample ballot disagree, the sample ballot wins.
What you are hiring
You are hiring the Sheriff of Caledonia County — civil process from Ryegate to Newark, court security in St. Johnsbury, transport that may go to a DOC complex in the same town without making this Sheriff the superintendent. You are not hiring the Orleans County Sheriff. You are not hiring the Essex County Sheriff. You are not hiring the Governor. Read the office page first.
Rights, remedy, relief, service, due process
Papers honestly. Courthouse without a circus. Transport without a shortcut. Remedy is official doors and courts. Relief in a hill-town washout is this count first. Equal protection from Barnet to Sheffield.
