The Mayor of Honolulu is elected at-large by the people of the City and County of Honolulu. That government is consolidated: one Mayor for the city of Honolulu, the rest of Oʻahu, and the Northwestern Hawaiian Islands except Midway. The charter is strong Mayor–Council: the Mayor is the chief executive; nine Council members legislate. Two consecutive full terms is a clock, not a crown. The term is four years.
