Mayor — Denver

Denver Mayor · educational cover · city-run action · American Future Type
What this office is
The Mayor of Denver is elected at-large by the people of this city. Denver is a consolidated city and county. The charter is strong Mayor–Council: the Mayor is the chief executive; City Council legislates. That is a clock on this city, not a slight. The term is four years. The next regular Mayor election is April 2027. Confirm the clock, and the Mayor of record, on official Denver sites. Do not invent a 2026 Mayor race for this city. November 2026 may carry other municipal business. It is not this office.
This is not the Governor. The Governor file lives at Governor of Colorado. This is not the Denver Sheriff as a county election — Denver’s sheriff is a citywide appointed office in this consolidated government. Denver Police and Denver Fire are this city’s departments.
Denver is the capital of Colorado, on the South Platte and Cherry Creek, where the high plains meet the Front Range. Colorado Springs is not the capital. Boulder is not the capital. Aurora is a different city. The City and County Building on Civic Center, Union Station, and the neighborhoods that never make a national broadcast hire the same Mayor. This is not an ocean city. This city is the whole map.
This page is Side One. For this cycle, use the election twin.

How the job fits this community
The inbox is a city inbox: a night shift on Colfax, a fire run that is this hydrant, a snow-and-ice minute on the Front Range side of town, a lights-out block that is not a Governor file, and a South Platte minute that is not a mountain-town postcard.
Staff who only know the ski towns as Colorado, or only know the gold dome as the city, are not doing the job. The gold dome is the state. The Mayor’s house is the City and County Building. Aurora remains Aurora. Lakewood remains Lakewood. The plains remain Denver.
What the job entails
- Run the city. Strong Mayor. Not a Governor. Not a city manager as the executive.
- Police, fire, EMS as Denver’s departments.
- Lights, streets, water the charter actually gives.
- One home. This city — and this consolidated county.
