This is not a Governor race. South Dakota’s 2026 Governor clock is a different office. Sioux Falls is not this bluff. Fort Pierre is a different city.

What you are hiring
You are hiring the Mayor of Pierre for this city — three years, home-rule commission, four commissioners as the check, City Administrator for the daily departments. Read the office page first. Politics, law, technology, justice, ministry, education, intelligence, and outreach on this land are the job. Not a slogan.
Remedy — a small-capital complaint is still a paper

Relief — ice on the Missouri before Pierre calls Pierre
A Missouri ice jam, a blizzard that shuts the bluff, a house fire on a wind night. Mutual aid with Fort Pierre is real. Fort Pierre is not Pierre’s firehouse. The Governor’s emergency desk is later. This hydrant is first. Oahe Dam is the Corps. It is not this Mayor.
Service — a part-time Mayor still owes the night
Papers the city has to serve. Transports. A plow on the bluff. A ladder company on Dakota Avenue. Streetlights. Oahe TV that shows the meeting. The City Administrator coordinates the day. The Mayor still owes the people a serious principal: clear priorities, honest service, no rumor as policy.
Due process — three years, not a November transplant
Arrest, booking, presentment, property, permits, hearings. The Constitution does not pause because a radio is busy. Civil service clocks are real. Do not teach a shortcut. Do not move this race onto the November 2026 statewide ballot.
Rights — the whole city is already the map
Counsel. Property. Peaceable assembly on Capitol Avenue and in the neighborhoods. Equal protection on this bluff. The Mayor is a servant of this city, not a brand. Sioux Falls does not vote here. Fort Pierre hires its own.
