2027 Election — Mayor of Madison

Madison Mayor · 2027 · educational cover · city-run action · American Future Type
This is Side Two
This page is the arena for this office, this cycle. Unique teaching for the job lives on the office twin.
It is not a campaign. Names belong on the official sample ballot.
When
- Spring primary: Tuesday 16 February 2027
- Next regular Mayor election: Tuesday 6 April 2027 (four-year spring clock; last Mayor election 4 April 2023)
- Not 2026. April 2026 was even-numbered alder districts. Wisconsin municipal officers sit on the spring clock, Wis. Stat. 5.02(21).
This is not a Governor race. Wisconsin’s Governor clock is a different office. Milwaukee is not this isthmus.

If a site and the official sample ballot disagree, the sample ballot wins.
What you are hiring
You are hiring the Mayor of Madison for this city — four years, strong-mayor charter, twenty alders as the check. Read the office page first. Politics, law, technology, justice, ministry, education, intelligence, and outreach on this land are the job. Not a slogan.
Remedy — an isthmus complaint is a city paper
A resident who was mistreated files on the city’s official complaint and professional-standards doors, not on a comment section. Police professional standards, fire investigation, the Common Council as a check, and the courts. The Dane County Sheriff is not this Mayor’s complaint box. Send people to cityofmadison.com.
Relief — two lakes before the state desk
A polar freeze on the isthmus, a fire on a student-block street, a wind night that takes the trees. Mutual aid with surrounding cities is real. Those cities are not Madison’s firehouse. The Governor’s emergency desk is later. This hydrant is first. Lake Michigan is east. It is not these two lakes.
Service — what a spring hire actually buys
Papers the city has to serve. Transports. A plow on the isthmus. A ladder company on State Street. Streetlights. A 311 that tells the truth. The staff is the office. A serious Mayor is a serious principal: clear priorities, honest service, no rumor as policy.
Due process — April, not a November transplant
Arrest, booking, presentment, property, permits, hearings. The Constitution does not pause because a radio is busy. Civil service and union clocks are real. Do not teach a shortcut. Do not move this race onto the 2026 statewide ballot.
Rights — the Northside is on this hire too
Counsel. Property. Peaceable assembly on the Capitol Square lawn and in the neighborhoods. Equal protection from the Northside to the south and east sides. The Mayor is a servant of this city, not a brand. Milwaukee does not vote here. The isthmus does.
