What this office is
The Governor of Vermont is the state executive. One office. The whole state. The term is two years — not four. New Hampshire is the only other state on that clock. The next regular election is Tuesday, November 3, 2026. The one after that is 2028. Confirm the clock, and the Governor of record, on official Vermont sites. This office has no term limit — that is a clock fact, not a crown.
This is not a United States Senate seat. The Senate files live at Vermont Class I and Vermont Class III. Vermont has no Class II and no 2026 Senate race. The Governor does not vote in Congress, does not confirm federal judges, and does not run a House district.
This is not a mayor. Montpelier is the capital, under the gold dome. Burlington is the largest city. That does not make Burlington the map. The Northeast Kingdom, the Green Mountains, and the Champlain towns hire the same Governor.
Vermont is fourteen counties. The Governor’s House map is not the one at-large U.S. House seat. The Senate seat does not split. This office does not split either — it is one executive for the state.

How the job fits this community

- Disaster years. Ice, flood, a hard freeze, a mountain storm — the desk that is not a mayor and not a Senator.
- Two homes. Montpelier for the job. The rest of the state for the people who hired the office.
What a day is like
There is no single Tuesday. In the capital: a visitor from Washington County and a visitor whose drive started in Newport, a Kingdom town that is not on I-89 news, or a mill that is not the at-large House seat. In the state: a capitol desk, a ridge day, and a lake day that is not Burlington.
The staff is the office. A serious Governor is a serious principal: clear priorities, honest casework, no rumor as policy.
