Searcy County, Arkansas, was erected 13 December 1838 from Marion and named for Richard Searcy, a territorial clerk and judge. Marshall is the seat. It is a small Ozark town on U.S. 65. It is not the capital of Arkansas. Little Rock is. It is not the city of Searcy. The city of Searcy is the seat of White County, about seventy miles southeast — a different county, a different Sheriff, a different hall. This is not Marshall County, Alabama.
