San Joaquin County, California
Stockton is the seat · Sacramento is the capital · not Sacramento as this hall

San Joaquin County is a northern San Joaquin Valley county. Stockton is the seat. Sacramento is the capital of California — a different county. Lodi, Manteca, and Tracy are cities — not the hall. This Sheriff still holds the French Camp house at 7000 Michael Canlis Boulevard / 999 West Mathews Road. Sheriff is not the 2026 Governor oval — next regular is the 2028 presidential primary.

San Joaquin County · Stockton is the seat · Sacramento is the capital of California · Lodi is a city · Manteca is a city · Sacramento County is a different county

Stockton is the seat. Sacramento is the capital. Sacramento is not this hall.

San Joaquin County, California, was created 18 February 1850 as one of the original twenty-seven counties, and named for the San Joaquin River. Stockton is the county seat. Sacramento is the capital of California. Stockton is not the capital. Sacramento the city is not this oval. Do not read this page as Autauga-with-a-delta. Do not read this page as Sacramento-County-with-a-rename. Do not read this page as Stanislaus-with-a-split. Prattville is Autauga. Sacramento the city is Sacramento County. Modesto is Stanislaus County. None of those is this oval.

Lodi is a city — not the hall. Manteca is a city — not the hall. Tracy is a city — not the hall. Ripon, Escalon, and Lathrop are cities — not the hall. French Camp is the Sheriff campus, not a second seat. The Delta is water, not a second county.

This page is Side One for the place. The Sheriff’s job — unincorporated remainder patrol, contract work the office actually posts, and the French Camp house this badge still holds — is taught at Office of the Sheriff — San Joaquin County.

Five Supervisors at 44 North San Joaquin. They do not sit as the State Assembly.

San Joaquin is a general-law county. A five-member Board of Supervisors, elected by district, sits at 44 North San Joaquin Street, Sixth Floor, Suite 627, Stockton, CA 95202. They fund roads, the Stockton courthouse, Lodi and Manteca halls, and the Sheriff’s budget. They do not hire the Sheriff. The people do. Stockton City Council is a city body. The California Legislature sits in Sacramento. None of those is this Board.

The San Joaquin County Superior Court lists the Stockton courthouse as the central hall, plus Lodi and Manteca halls the court actually posts. Do not invent one courthouse as the whole map. Confirm live at sjgov.org and the court’s live door.

The Sheriff is a county officer (California Constitution Article XI; Government Code § 24000). This Sheriff is not on the 2026 gubernatorial table. Elections Code § 1300 (AB 759, 2022) moved sheriff and district attorney to the presidential primary. A sheriff elected in 2022 serves a six-year term; the next regular is the 2028 presidential primary. San Joaquin is general law. Last regular 7 June 2022. Take office at noon on the first Monday after January 1 succeeding election (Gov. Code § 24200). The Governor is 2026. That is a different desk in Sacramento.

The San Joaquin is a river. I-5 is a road. Sacramento County is a different county.

Interstate 5, Interstate 205, State Route 99, and State Route 4 meet on this map. The San Joaquin and the Mokelumne are water, not a Sacramento badge. Sacramento is north — Sacramento the city is that hall and the capital. Stanislaus is south — Modesto is that hall. Alameda is west — Oakland is that hall. Calaveras is east. Staff who paste a Capitol photograph onto French Camp, or treat Stockton as Sacramento, or file Lodi as this county government, or rewrite this county as Autauga-with-a-delta, are on the wrong county.

How a valley public finds Canlis, Mathews, and San Joaquin Street

Board of Supervisors: 44 North San Joaquin Street, Sixth Floor, Stockton. Sheriff Administration / jail campus: 7000 Michael Canlis Boulevard, French Camp, CA 95231 — non-emergency (209) 468-4400. Jail information: (209) 468-4562. Official pages also list 999 West Mathews Road, French Camp for the jail complex. Civil Division: 400 East Main Street, Suite 760, Stockton, CA 95202. Confirm live at sjsheriff.org. A student who only knows a Sacramento photograph as this county, or treats Stockton PD as this jailer, has not found this campus.

French Camp still jails. Stockton PD does not. CDCR does not.

Crime in unincorporated San Joaquin County is this Sheriff. Crime in Stockton is often Stockton Police. This office also contracts work the office actually posts — confirm the live list (Lathrop has been a known contract city). This Sheriff is not those municipal departments. The French Camp house is this Sheriff’s shop. Official doors did not show a separate county Department of Corrections taking that house — do not invent a jailer split.

CDCR is not this Sheriff. CHP is a state badge. Do not send a family looking for a county booking to Stockton PD, to Lodi PD, or to Sacramento County’s Main Jail.

Care without inventing the Delta as this county government

A peace order served in unincorporated remainder. A court-ordered transport from French Camp to the Stockton courthouse without becoming Stockton PD. Mutual aid when the river rises. Do not invent a church. Do not invent Sacramento as this hall.

What San Joaquin County actually watches

Court calendar in Stockton, Lodi, and Manteca. A wreck on I-5. High water on the San Joaquin. Fog on 99. Coordination with Stockton PD, contract-city departments, CHP, and Sacramento’s Sheriff without becoming those departments. Agriculture is work. The river is weather and a levee. Neither is Sacramento as this oval.

Orientation adapted from the California Constitution Article XI, Elections Code § 1300, Government Code §§ 24000, 24200, 25304, and 26600, San Joaquin County official pages (sjgov.org, sjsheriff.org), and the Secretary of State for education.
