San Diego County, California
San Diego is the seat · Sacramento is the capital · not the beach as the hall

San Diego County is a large south-coast charter county. San Diego the city is the seat. Sacramento is the capital of California. Chula Vista, Oceanside, Escondido, and Coronado are cities — not the hall. This Sheriff still holds Central Jail, Las Colinas, Vista, South Bay, East Mesa, Bailey, and Rock Mountain. Sheriff is not the 2026 Governor oval — next regular is the 2028 presidential primary.

San Diego County, California

San Diego County, California — downtown civic and harbor-light county seat as this county’s land, Sacramento is the capital, not a beach postcard, not Los Angeles. — educational cover

San Diego County · San Diego the city is the seat · Sacramento is the capital of California · Chula Vista is a city · Oceanside is a city · Los Angeles is a different county

San Diego is the seat. Sacramento is the capital. The beach is not the hall.

San Diego County, California, was created 18 February 1850 as one of the original twenty-seven counties, and named for the Mission San Diego de Alcalá and the bay — the mission is not this government. San Diego the city is the county seat. Sacramento is the capital of California. San Diego is not the capital. Coronado is not the hall. Los Angeles is not this oval. Do not read this page as Autauga-with-a-harbor. Do not read this page as Los Angeles-with-a-bay. Do not read this page as a beach-resort rename. Prattville is Autauga. The City of Los Angeles is Los Angeles County. None of those is this oval.

Chula Vista is a city — not the hall. Oceanside is a city — not the hall. Escondido is a city — not the hall. Carlsbad, El Cajon, Vista, San Marcos, Encinitas, National City, La Mesa, Santee, and Coronado are cities — not the hall. Camp Pendleton and the naval installations are federal. The border is a line, not a second county.

This page is Side One for the place. The Sheriff’s job — unincorporated remainder patrol, contract-city work the office actually posts, and the detention houses this badge still holds — is taught at Office of the Sheriff — San Diego County.

Five Supervisors at 1600 Pacific Highway. They do not sit as the State Assembly.

San Diego is a charter county. A five-member Board of Supervisors, elected by district, sits at the County Administration Center, 1600 Pacific Highway, San Diego, CA 92101. They fund roads, the Hall of Justice, North County halls, and the Sheriff’s budget. They do not hire the Sheriff. The people do. San Diego City Council is a city body. The California Legislature sits in Sacramento. None of those is this Board.

The San Diego County Superior Court lists 1100 Union Street and the Hall of Justice, 330 West Broadway, plus North County, East County, and South County halls the court actually posts. Do not invent one courthouse as the whole map. Confirm live at sandiegocounty.gov and sdcourt.ca.gov.

The Sheriff is a county officer (California Constitution Article XI; Government Code § 24000). This Sheriff is not on the 2026 gubernatorial table. Elections Code § 1300 (AB 759, 2022) moved sheriff and district attorney to the presidential primary. A sheriff elected in 2022 serves a six-year term; the next regular is the 2028 presidential primary. This charter did not lock a gubernatorial-year sheriff date before 1 January 2021. Last regular 7 June 2022. Take office at noon on the first Monday after January 1 succeeding election (Gov. Code § 24200). The Governor is 2026. That is a different desk in Sacramento.

The bay is water. I-5 is a road. Los Angeles is a different county.

Interstate 5, Interstate 8, Interstate 15, and State Route 94 meet on this map. The San Diego River and the Tijuana River are water, not a Los Angeles badge. The Pacific is an ocean, not this jailer. Cabrillo and the national cemetery are federal. Orange is north — Santa Ana is that hall. Riverside is northeast — Riverside the city is that hall. Imperial is east — El Centro is that hall. Staff who paste a beach-resort photograph onto Pacific Highway, or treat San Diego as Los Angeles, or file Coronado as this county government, or rewrite this county as Autauga-with-a-harbor, are on the wrong county.

How a south-coast public finds Ridgehaven, Front Street, and Riverview

Board of Supervisors: 1600 Pacific Highway, San Diego. Hall of Justice: 330 West Broadway. Sheriff Headquarters: 9621 Ridgehaven Court, San Diego, CA 92123(858) 974-2222. San Diego Central Jail: 1173 Front Street, San Diego, CA 92101. Las Colinas Detention and Reentry Facility: 451 Riverview Parkway, Santee, CA 92071 (primary women’s intake). Vista Detention Facility: 325 South Melrose Drive, Vista, CA 92081. South Bay Detention Facility: 500 Third Avenue, Chula Vista, CA 91910. East Mesa Reentry / George F. Bailey / Rock Mountain: 446 Alta Road, San Diego, CA 92158. Confirm live at sdsheriff.gov. A student who only knows a beach postcard, or a Los Angeles photograph as this county, or treats SDPD as this jailer, has not found this campus.

Central Jail, Las Colinas, Vista, and Mesa still jail. SDPD does not. CDCR does not.

Crime in unincorporated San Diego County is this Sheriff. Crime in the City of San Diego is often San Diego Police. This office also contracts patrol the office actually posts — confirm the live contract list. This Sheriff is not those municipal departments. Central Jail, Las Colinas, Vista, South Bay, East Mesa, Bailey, and Rock Mountain are this Sheriff’s shops. Official doors did not show a separate county Department of Corrections taking those houses — do not invent a jailer split.

CDCR is not this Sheriff. Richard J. Donovan Correctional Facility on Otay Mesa is state. CHP is a state badge. Do not send a family looking for a county booking to SDPD, to a Coronado police door, to Santa Ana (Orange), or to a CDCR gate.

Care without inventing a beach postcard as this county government

A peace order served in unincorporated Spring Valley remainder. A court-ordered transport from Front Street to Broadway without becoming SDPD. Mutual aid when the backcountry burns. Do not invent a church. Do not invent Los Angeles as this oval. Do not invent Sacramento as this hall.

What San Diego County actually watches

Court calendar on Broadway and in Vista. A wreck on I-5. Fire in the backcountry. Wind through the passes. Coordination with SDPD, contract-city departments, CHP, and Imperial’s Sheriff without becoming those departments. The bay is water. The border is a line. Neither is Los Angeles as this oval.
