Perry County, Arkansas, was created 18 December 1840 from Conway County south of the Arkansas River and named for Commodore Oliver Hazard Perry. The 1888 brick courthouse stands at 310 West Main Street in Perryville. Encyclopedia of Arkansas: locally fired brick, now painted white, Plain Traditional with restrained Colonial Revival, National Register 6 July 1976. Earlier houses burned — 1850, 1874, 1881. This one still sits. The town of Perry is a railroad town north of the seat, not the hall. Bigelow, Casa, Adona, and Houston are not the hall.
