Conway County, Arkansas, was created 20 October 1825 from Pulaski and named for Henry Wharton Conway. Cadron was the first seat. The seat later sat at Lewisburg and Springfield. Morrilton has been the county seat since 1883. Encyclopedia of Arkansas: the present courthouse has stood at Moose and Church since that move; the 1929 Gibb building replaced the 1883 house after a 2 January 1927 fire. Plumerville, Oppelo, and Menifee are not the hall.

I-40 is the through road. The Arkansas River forms part of the southern edge. Point Remove Creek drains past Morrilton. Van Buren is north. Faulkner is east — the city of Conway sits there. Perry is south — Perryville is that hall. Yell is southwest. Pope is west — Russellville is that hall. Staff who paste a city-of-Conway skyline onto Moose Street, or treat Petit Jean as this county government, or file “Cadron as the hall now,” are on the wrong county.
