Marion, Alabama is the hall. Uniontown is a town. This is not Marion County.

Perry County, Alabama, was erected 13 December 1819 and named for Commodore Oliver Hazard Perry. Marion, Alabama is the seat. Marion is also the large city. Uniontown is a town on U.S. 80 — it is not the hall. This is not Marion County. Marion County’s seat is Hamilton, in northwest Alabama. This is not Marion, Indiana. This is not Perry County, Kentucky, Missouri, Indiana, Illinois, Tennessee, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Arkansas, or Mississippi. By the 2020 census this is the second-least-populous county in Alabama: 8,511 (only Greene is smaller). Marion Military Institute is a school in this city. It is not this county government. Montgomery is the capital of Alabama. It does not sit here.

Places include Marion, Uniontown, Heiberger, Sprott, and Marion Junction. 2020 census: 8,511. This page is Side One for the place. The Sheriff’s job — Black Belt patrol and the Pickens Street jail this badge still holds — is taught at Office of the Sheriff — Perry County.

Five districts elect their own chair. Probate does not sit. They do not sit in Uniontown as this county.

Perry is a five-member County Commission, one commissioner per single-member district. The Chair and Vice Chair are elected by majority vote of the County Commission (county site). The Judge of Probate does not serve as a member of this Commission. That is the local-law split. There is no County Executive. Commission meetings sit at the Albert Turner, Sr. Courthouse Annex, 200 Pickens Street, Marion — next to the jail. Correspondence lists 300 Washington Street, Marion, AL 36756. They fund roads, the jail, and the Sheriff’s budget. They do not hire the Sheriff. The people do. Marion City Council is a city body. Uniontown is a town.

The courthouse is at 300 Washington Street, Marion, AL 36756 (4th Judicial Circuit — Bibb, Dallas, Hale, Perry, and Wilcox). The Circuit Clerk and Absentee Election Manager list that Washington door (county staff directory). A Hamilton rumor is not this county. An Indiana photograph is not this square.

The Sheriff is four years, Article V § 138, 2026 with the Governor. Take office 18 January 2027. The Mayor of Marion is a city clock.

U.S. 80, Alabama 5, the Cahaba. Hale is west. Dallas is east.

U.S. Highway 80 cuts the south. Alabama 5 and Alabama 14 are through roads. The Cahaba country and a piece of Talladega National Forest sit on this map. Bibb is north. Chilton is northeast. Dallas is east. Marengo is southwest. Hale is west. Staff who paste Marion County (Hamilton) onto Washington Street, or treat this as Marion, Indiana, or file “Uniontown as the hall,” are on the wrong county.

How a Marion, Alabama public finds the Perry desk

Courthouse / Commission correspondence / Circuit Clerk / Absentee / Probate / Sheriff HQ listings: 300 Washington Street, Marion, AL 36756. Commission meetings: 200 Pickens Street (Albert Turner, Sr. Courthouse Annex). County jail: 202 Pickens Street, Marion, AL 36756 (Perry County official facilities directory; same phone as the Sheriff). Confirm live addresses on perrycountyal.gov and the SOS county lookup. Aggregators sometimes paste 300 Washington as the jail; the detention house the county lists is 202 Pickens. A 4805 Highway 80 East, Uniontown “correctional center” listing is not the county’s published jail — do not send a family there on a rumor. A student who only knows Hamilton or Indiana has not found Marion, Alabama.

202 Pickens still jails. Marion PD does not.

Crime in unincorporated Perry — Uniontown country, Heiberger, Sprott, the Black Belt roads off U.S. 80 and Alabama 5 — is this Sheriff. Crime in Marion is often Marion Police. Crime in Uniontown is often Uniontown Police. This Sheriff is not Marion PD. This Sheriff is not Uniontown PD. The county lists the Perry County Jail at 202 Pickens Street under county facilities, same number as the Sheriff. A Jail Administrator title here is Sheriff’s staff, not a separate ADOC house. Do not invent a Warden split. Do not paste Dallas’s US-80 temporary house onto 202 Pickens. Do not send a family looking for a county booking to Marion Police, to Marion County in Hamilton, or to Marion, Indiana. Civil process and courthouse security at 300 Washington are the Sheriff. Rights do not change at the Cahaba. Remedy for Marion Police is the City. Remedy for a Sheriff’s paper is the Sheriff. Relief when U.S. 80 floods is this count first.

Care without inventing a military-institute chapel as this county

A peace order served in Uniontown. A transport from 202 Pickens to 300 Washington without becoming Marion Police. Do not invent a church. Do not invent Marion Military Institute as this badge.

What Perry actually watches

Court calendar on Washington. A wreck on U.S. 80. High water toward the Cahaba. Fog toward Uniontown. A night road outside Heiberger. Coordination with Marion PD, Uniontown PD, and ALEA without becoming those departments. Coordination with Hale’s Sheriff or Dallas’s Sheriff is mutual aid between two offices, not a merger. A Hamilton photograph does not steal the seat. Montgomery remains the capital.
