La Paz County · Parker is the seat · youngest Arizona county (1983, from Yuma) · this is not La Paz, Bolivia

Parker is the seat. Quartzsite is not the hall. This is not La Paz, Bolivia.

La Paz County, Arizona, was erected 1 January 1983 from the northern part of Yuma County — Arizona’s youngest county. The name is Spanish for peace. It is not La Paz, Bolivia. It is not the Bolivian Andes. It is not a South American capital as this hall. Parker is the seat. Quartzsite is a town on I-10 famous for winter visitors — it is not the county hall. Ehrenberg, Salome, Bouse, Wenden, and Cibola are places in this county — they are not the hall. Lake Havasu City is Mohave, later — it is not this seat. Yuma is still Yuma County’s hall. Phoenix is Maricopa and the capital.

Places include Parker, Quartzsite, Ehrenberg, Salome, Bouse, Wenden, and Cibola. 2020 census: 16,557. The Colorado River Indian Tribes (CRIT) reservation sits at Parker; that Nation is not this county government. This page is Side One for the place. The Sheriff’s job — river-and-desert remainder patrol and the Parker house this badge still holds — is taught at Office of the Sheriff — La Paz County.

Three Supervisors sit at 1108 Joshua. Quartzsite does not sit this board.

La Paz is a three-member Board of Supervisors, one supervisor per district, under A.R.S. § 11-211. An appointed County Administrator sits with the Board. There is no elected County Executive. Board offices sit at 1108 Joshua Avenue, Parker, AZ 85344 (lapaz.gov). They fund roads, the detention house, and the Sheriff’s budget. They do not hire the Sheriff. The people do. Parker Town Council is a town body. Quartzsite Town Council is a town body. Neither is this Board.

La Paz County Superior Court / Clerk lists at 1316 Kofa Avenue, Suite 607, Parker, AZ 85344 (azcourts.gov). Parker Justice Court lists at 1105 West Arizona Avenue. Quartzsite and Salome also have limited-jurisdiction doors — those are not the county hall.

The Sheriff is four years, Article 12 § 3, beginning 1 January after election. Last regular Tuesday, 5 November 2024. Next regular Tuesday, 7 November 2028. The 2026 gubernatorial table is not this oval.

The Colorado River, I-10, the California line.

The Colorado River is the west wall — California (Riverside / San Bernardino) is across the water. I-10 crosses the south at Quartzsite and Ehrenberg. U.S. 95 is the north–south spine through Parker. Mohave is north — Kingman is that hall, later; Lake Havasu City is that county. Yavapai is northeast, later. Maricopa is east — Phoenix is that hall and the capital. Yuma is south — the parent county; Yuma the city is that hall. Staff who paste Bolivia onto Kofa Avenue, or treat Quartzsite as this hall, or file “Lake Havasu City as this seat,” are on the wrong county.

How a Parker public finds Kofa, Joshua, and Arizona Avenue

Board / Administrator: 1108 Joshua Avenue. Recorder / Treasurer / other county offices also list on Joshua Avenue (confirm suite numbers on lapaz.gov). Superior Court / Clerk: 1316 Kofa Avenue, Suite 607. Sheriff: 1109 West Arizona Avenue, Parker, AZ 85344 (lapazsheriff.org). Adult Detention Facility: 1111 Arizona Avenue (inmate mail lists 1111 Arizona Ave.). Parker Justice Court: 1105 West Arizona Avenue. Confirm live doors before you drive. A student who only knows a Quartzsite swap-meet photograph as the hall, or a Bolivian postcard, has not found this campus.

This Sheriff still holds 1111 Arizona Avenue. CRIT police is a different badge.

Crime in unincorporated La Paz — Ehrenberg, Salome, Bouse, Wenden, Cibola, the I-10 frontage outside town limits — is this Sheriff. Crime in Parker is often Parker Police. Crime in Quartzsite is often Quartzsite Police. This Sheriff is not Parker PD. A.R.S. § 11-441(A)(5) still puts the county jail on this badge. The Sheriff’s own detention page sits on lapazsheriff.org/detention. That house is this badge’s shop. It is not a separate county Department of Corrections that retired this jailer.

Colorado River Indian Tribes Police is a tribal badge on CRIT land. Cross-deputization where it exists is mutual aid, not a merger. Do not paste ADC onto this Sheriff. State prison complexes that sit in other Arizona counties are not the Parker jail. Do not send a family looking for a county booking to Quartzsite Town Hall, to Parker Police, or to Bolivia. Civil process and court security at 1316 Kofa are the Sheriff. The office also runs river / boating work from a Boathouse at 8484 Riverside Drive — confirm that door on official pages; it is this badge’s water watch, not a California harbor department. Remedy for Parker Police is the Town. Remedy for a Sheriff’s paper is the Sheriff. Relief when the Colorado rises is this count first.

Care without inventing Parker Dam as this county jailer

A peace order served in unincorporated Ehrenberg. A transport from 1111 Arizona Avenue to 1316 Kofa without becoming Parker PD. Do not invent a church. Do not invent Parker Dam as this oval. The dam is federal water works. This Sheriff is county.
