Camden is a South Jersey county on the Delaware River, created 1844 from Gloucester. The City of Camden is the seat. Philadelphia is Pennsylvania. The Ben Franklin Bridge does not move this county into another state. Trenton is the capital of New Jersey and sits in Mercer. Gloucester is south. Burlington is east and north. Atlantic is southeast through the pines.
Municipalities include the City of Camden, Cherry Hill, Gloucester City, Pennsauken, Winslow, Gloucester Township, Voorhees, Haddonfield, Collingswood, Lindenwold, Berlin, Waterford, and the rest of the thirty-seven. Cherry Hill is this county. Mount Holly is Burlington. Atlantic City is Atlantic. Philadelphia is not.

Seven Commissioners, no County Executive
Camden did not take the Optional County Charter Executive form. The Board of County Commissioners is seven members, three-year staggered terms, a Director chosen by the Board. That is not Atlantic’s Executive on Atlantic Avenue. That is not Bergen’s Plaza Executive. Burlington is also a commissioner county, and is still a different map.
The Sheriff is a constitutional officer, three years. The Commissioners fund the office. They do not hire this badge. Last regular sheriff general was 2024. Next regular is Tuesday, 2 November 2027. Tuesday, 3 November 2026 is not this oval. The Governor is 2029.
Cooper River and the Delaware, not the Shore
The Delaware, the Cooper River, and the inland Pinelands edge are this water. I-76, I-295, the Admiral Wilson Boulevard, and the Atlantic City Expressway on the east are this pavement. Corporate headquarters sit in Cherry Hill and beyond. No Boardwalk as the county hall. No Palisades as the county story. Staff who paste a casino onto Market Street are on the wrong county.
How a river-city public actually files a paper
Each municipality has a site. Cherry Hill’s site does not speak for Winslow. The Sheriff’s listing speaks for court, process, warrants, and transport. The Camden County Jail at 330 Federal Street is Camden County Department of Corrections (camdendoc.com) — a Warden, not this Sheriff. The County Clerk and elections work are a county listing of their own (Blackwood appears on some clerk/election doors). Do not send a Winslow family to Philadelphia City Hall for a New Jersey paper. Do not send them to Trenton for this badge.
Hall of Justice, a jail that is Corrections
Crime in the City of Camden is often Camden County Police (metro) or the municipal arrangement the city actually uses — confirm the live listing; it is not this Sheriff. Crime in Cherry Hill is Cherry Hill Police. Civil process, Superior Court security at the Hall of Justice, 520 Market Street, sheriff sales, and transport are this Sheriff. Jail as a local house is Federal Street Corrections. Rights do not change at the Haddonfield line. Remedy for city/metro police is that department. Remedy for a Sheriff’s paper is the Sheriff. Relief when the Delaware floods the waterfront is this count first.
A student who stays on Market Street
A student uses town pages, the county jobs board, or the Sheriff’s official listing at 520 Market Street, Room 100. Rutgers–Camden and Cooper Medical are campuses. They are not the jail. Outreach that only knows waterfront tourism is not doing Waterford or Winslow.
