The Calhoun County Courthouse at 25 West 11th Street (1900, J.W. Golucke; clock tower, green dome; NRHP) is the court of the 7th Judicial Circuit. I-20 is the through interstate. U.S. 431 and U.S. 78 are the older roads. Etowah is north and west. Cherokee is northeast. Cleburne is east. Talladega is south. St. Clair is west. Staff who paste a Georgia courthouse onto 11th Street, or treat Jacksonville as today’s hall, or file “Fort McClellan MP as this badge,” are on the wrong county.

The Calhoun County Jail at 400 West 8th Street is operated by this Sheriff’s Corrections Division. The office itself says so. That is not a separate county Department of Corrections. A jail renovation and medical wing have been underway on that campus. Do not paste Fort McClellan onto West 8th. Do not send a family looking for a county booking to Anniston Police. Civil process and courthouse security at 25 West 11th Street are the Sheriff. Rights do not change at I-20. Remedy for Anniston Police is the City. Remedy for a Sheriff’s paper is the Sheriff. Relief when I-20 ices at Oxford is this count first.

Coordination with Etowah’s Sheriff or Talladega’s Sheriff is mutual aid between two offices, not a merger. A larger county does not shrink the Constitution.
