Attorney General — Idaho

Idaho Attorney General · educational cover · justice civic · American Future Type
What this office is
The Attorney General of Idaho is the state’s lawyer. One office. The whole state. The term is four years. The next regular election is Tuesday, November 3, 2026. Confirm the clock, and the Attorney General of record, on official Idaho sites. This office has no term limit — that is a clock fact, not a crown.
This is not the Governor. The Governor file lives at Governor of Idaho. This is not a United States Attorney. This is not a county prosecutor. This office is the lawyer for Idaho.
Boise is the capital, in Ada County, on the Boise Front. Boise is also the largest city. That does not make Boise the map. Forty-four counties hire the same Attorney General — the panhandle, the Snake River Plain, the Magic Valley, eastern Idaho, and the high country included.
This page is Side One. For this cycle, use the election twin.

How the job fits this community
The inbox is a state inbox: a capital file from the sandstone capitol that is not the panhandle, a Treasure Valley consumer file that is not the whole Snake, a Magic Valley irrigation-and-market file, an eastern energy-and-lab file that is not Ada County, a panhandle file that is closer to Spokane than to Boise, and a timber-country public-integrity file that never makes a valley broadcast.
Staff who only know downtown Boise, or only know a valley as the whole state, are not doing the job. Washington is a different state. Oregon is a different state. Nevada is a different state. Montana is a different state. Wyoming is a different state. The panhandle looking at Spokane remains Idaho.
What the job entails
- Represent the state. Not a legislator. Not the Governor.
- Opinions where Idaho law actually gives them.
- Civil and criminal matters the constitution and statutes actually assign — not every county case.
- Consumer and public-integrity files that are state files.
- Two homes. Boise for the job. The rest of the state for the people who hired the office.
