2028 Election — Attorney General of Utah

Utah Attorney General · 2028 · educational cover · justice civic · American Future Type
This is Side Two — a 2028 hire, not a leftover 2026 race
This page is the arena for this office, this cycle. Unique teaching for the job lives on the office twin.
It is not a campaign. It does not crown a winner. It does not tell you who to vote for. Names belong on the official sample ballot.
Utah elects this lawyer in presidential years. Last regular: 5 November 2024. Next regular: Tuesday, 7 November 2028. Do not invent a 2026 Attorney General race. The House and Senate stood 2026. They are not this desk.
There is no term-limit clock on this lawyer. That is a clock fact. It is not a crown for the next name.
When twenty-nine counties actually vote for this lawyer
- Primary: June typical — confirm vote.utah.gov when the 2028 calendar posts. Do not treat a guessed Tuesday as filed.
- General: Tuesday, 7 November 2028.
- Take office: January 2029. Confirm the live Monday.
- Elections door: the Lieutenant Governor. There is no Secretary of State.
This is a regular Attorney General election. It is not a U.S. Senate race as the whole ballot. Utah’s Class I Senate next stands 2028 — a different hire. The Governor is a different 2028 hire (Governor of Utah · 2028). This desk is the state’s lawyer.
Names belong on vote.utah.gov
Do not take names from a news comment or a Front thread.
- Official candidate list / sample ballot — vote.utah.gov (Lieutenant Governor)
- County sample ballot and the county clerk in this county
- Current Attorney General of record (not the same thing as the 2028 nominee) — attorneygeneral.utah.gov
- Registration and ballot status — vote.utah.gov
If a site and the official sample ballot disagree, the sample ballot wins.
A complaint against this desk is not a Salt Lake City mayor file
A resident who was mistreated by a state file, a consumer shop that would not answer, or a license that never moved files on official doors: the Attorney General, the agency of jurisdiction, the courts, and — for election process — the Lieutenant Governor and the county clerk. A Facebook thread is not a grievance.
A Salt Lake City mayor complaint is a city file (Mayor of Salt Lake City). A county attorney is a county prosecutor. Do not file a state-lawyer grievance at city hall.
Impeachment, when it is actually this constitution’s file, is articles in the House and a Senate trial — not a comment.
After fire on the plateaus, the consumer door still opens
Relief this office actually runs is a state consumer door, an opinion a board asked for, and the litigation this constitution actually assigns. A fire season on the plateaus, ice on I-15, a snow night in the Wasatch — mutual aid with Idaho, Wyoming, Colorado, Arizona, and Nevada is real. Those states do not vote for this Attorney General. The Great Salt Lake is not an ocean to call.
The Legislature’s hour is the statute. The Attorney General’s hour is the file that is state, not a county attorney’s. Read the office page before you read a mailer.
Papers, opinions, the night a basin county asks the valley
You are hiring the Attorney General of Utah for the whole state — four years, one lawyer, twenty-nine counties, not a Governor. Papers a resident actually needs: a consumer status, an opinion process that is Article VII not a rumor, a public-integrity question that is not a mayor’s. The night shift is 29 counties, not one Front skyline.
The staff is the office. A serious Attorney General is a serious principal: clear priorities, honest casework, no rumor as policy. Salt Lake City is the job. The rest of the state is the hire.
June primary (confirm), November 7 general — not 2026
Due process on this hire: June primary as the 2028 calendar actually writes it, general 7 November 2028. Confirm filing, mail, and ID on vote.utah.gov. Do not teach a shortcut. Do not teach a Secretary of State as this elections door.
A vacancy after the election is succession under this constitution, not a tweet. Do not transplant Louisiana’s Saturday onto the valley.
The Constitution does not pause because 2026 was even. Equal protection does not pause because a county is rural. St. George does not become the capital because a mailer said so. The Wasatch Front is not the whole state.
Equal protection from the Uinta Basin to a St. George precinct
Petition. Property. Peaceable assembly on the capitol hill and in a basin precinct. Equal protection in twenty-nine counties. The right to a sample ballot that matches what the envelope actually holds.
This office practices state law that can touch a license, a consumer file, a prison, a river, a road, a fire, and a vote. It must not treat the Front as the whole state, St. George as the capital, or a 2026 legislative race as this desk. It must not crown itself.
Salt Lake City is the capital. The people of Utah hire the office. The Lieutenant Governor is the elections door.
