- Sixteen of thirty-one seats are this class. The Secretary of State’s offices list is not even-or-odd: Districts 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 9, 11, 13, 18, 19, 21, 22, 24, 26, 28, 31. Do not invent a 2026 race for a desk that is not on that list.
This is a regular State Senate election for half the chamber after the post-census lot. It is not a U.S. Senate race, though Texas’s Class II is on 2026. It is not the Governor race, though Texas’s Governor is also on 2026. It is not the Lieutenant Governor race, though that statewide desk is on 2026 and does gavel this floor. It is not the Attorney General — that desk is also 2026, a different hire. It is not the House of Representatives — that is 150 seats, a different chamber, all on the same Tuesday.
Legislative maps are the Legislature’s lines unless a court says otherwise. PLAN S2168 is the named Senate plan. Treat a statute posting and a stay as clocks. Confirm which line this district actually uses on .gov, not on a comment.

A Governor’s writ, not an appointment of the Senator
A resident who was mistreated by a state agency, a confirmation that went sideways, or a district office that would not answer files on official doors: the Senator’s district office, the committee of jurisdiction, the Secretary of State where that statute actually reaches, the courts, and — for election process — the county election official. A Facebook thread is not a grievance.
A hole in this chamber is a Governor’s writ of election (Article III, Section 13). Twenty days of silence and the returning officer of the district may order the election. Confirm on the Secretary of State. Do not invent a Governor appointment of the Senator. Do not transplant Tennessee’s county-commission split onto Texas.
Professional standards for a state employee sit with that agency and with the law the Senate actually wrote. The Attorney General is the state’s lawyer. The Senate is not that complaint box. Send people to senate.texas.gov and votetexas.gov.
Gulf storm and a Panhandle freeze
Relief this chamber actually votes is a statute and an appropriation. A hurricane year on the Gulf, a freeze that takes the grid, a drought on High Plains ground, a Rio Grande year — mutual aid and emergency years still run through the Governor’s desk first. The Senate’s hour is the bill that funds the year after, the oversight that asks whether the money moved, and the rural hospital or water statute that was already on the calendar.
El Paso is Texas. It is not New Mexico. Texarkana on this side of the line is Texas. It is not Arkansas. Mutual aid with an Oklahoma or Louisiana parish or county is real. Those counties do not vote in this chamber.
Noon on 12 January is the hire
Bills. Confirmations by two-thirds of those present. A state budget in a 140-day odd year. A district office that returns the call from a county that never makes a Houston broadcast. 2026 has no regular session. The long odd-year session is 2027. Papers a constituent actually needs: a status on a bill, a confirmation notice, a referral to the agency that holds the license.
The staff is the office. A serious Senator is a serious principal: clear priorities, honest casework, no rumor as policy. Austin is the session. The district is the hire. The Panhandle is still the hire.
Texas has no year-count term limit. The Lieutenant Governor’s gavel is a statewide clock on this same Tuesday — a different race, a different sample-ballot line. Confirm who is actually on this Senate district’s ballot on the official filing — not on a thread.
Due process on a lot-drawn class
Due process on this hire: a primary on 3 March 2026, a runoff on 26 May 2026 where one was required, a general on 3 November 2026, a take-office at noon, Tuesday, 12 January 2027. This chamber writes state law that can touch a license, a tax, a school, a river, a grid, and a vote. It must not treat Houston as the capital, Austin as a Houston suburb, or the I-35 corridor as the whole state. It must not treat a U.S. Senate race as this desk. It must not treat the Lieutenant Governor race as a Senate district. It must not crown itself.
