This is a regular State Senate election for half the chamber. It is not a U.S. Senate race, though Tennessee’s Class II is on 2026. It is not the Governor race, though Tennessee’s Governor is also on 2026. It is not the Attorney General — that desk is appointed by the Supreme Court, eight years, and is not on this ballot. It is not the House of Representatives — that is 99 seats, a different chamber, all on the same Tuesday.
Legislative maps are the General Assembly’s lines unless a court says otherwise. Treat a statute posting and a stay as clocks. Confirm which line this district actually uses on .gov, not on a comment.

Twelve months is the vacancy split
A resident who was mistreated by a state agency, a confirmation that went sideways, or a district office that would not answer files on official doors: the Senator’s district office, the committee of jurisdiction, the Secretary of State where that statute actually reaches, the courts, and — for election process — the county election commission. A Facebook thread is not a grievance.
A hole in this chamber is Article II, Section 15: twelve months or more remaining, a Governor’s writ and a special election, with the county legislative body able to name an interim; fewer than twelve months, the county legislative body elects the successor. Confirm on the Secretary of State. Do not invent a Governor appointment of the Senator as the default. Do not transplant Texas’s writ-only clock onto Tennessee.
Professional standards for a state employee sit with that agency and with the law the Senate actually wrote. The Attorney General is the state’s lawyer by court appointment. The Senate is not that complaint box. Send people to capitol.tn.gov and sos.tn.gov/elections.
Cumberland rise and a plateau fire
Relief this chamber actually votes is a statute and an appropriation. A Cumberland flood year, a tornado night in the Basin, a drought on West Tennessee ground, a plateau fire — mutual aid and emergency years still run through the Governor’s desk first. The Senate’s hour is the bill that funds the year after, the oversight that asks whether the money moved, and the rural hospital or river statute that was already on the calendar.
Memphis is Tennessee. It is not Mississippi. Bristol on this side of the line is Tennessee. It is not Virginia. Mutual aid with a Kentucky or Alabama county is real. Those counties do not vote in this chamber.
The day of the general is the hire
Bills. A state budget. A district office that returns the call from a county that never makes a Broadway broadcast. Papers a constituent actually needs: a status on a bill, a referral to the agency that holds the license, a question to a committee that actually has the file.
The staff is the office. A serious Senator is a serious principal: clear priorities, honest casework, no rumor as policy. Nashville is the session. The district is the hire. West Tennessee is still the hire.
Tennessee has no year-count term limit. The Speaker of the Senate is this body’s chair, and that chair is the Lieutenant Governor by statute. It is not a separate statewide race on this ballot. Confirm who actually filed for this odd-numbered district on the official filing — not on a thread.
Due process on an odd-numbered class
Due process on this hire: a primary on 6 August 2026, a general on 3 November 2026, a take-office that same day, and an organizational session on Tuesday, 12 January 2027 that cannot pass a bill on third reading. Registration rules, absentee deadlines, and early-vote calendars belong on sos.tn.gov/elections. Do not teach a shortcut, and do not teach another state’s mail-only clock as this desk.
A vacancy after this election is still the twelve-month split. A map fight is a legislative file and a court file. Do not transplant Utah’s January 1 oath onto Tennessee. Seventeen odd-numbered seats are this biennium.
The Constitution does not pause because an organizational session is fifteen days. Equal protection does not pause because a district is west of the Tennessee River.
Rights on ninety-five counties

This chamber writes state law that can touch a license, a tax, a school, a river, and a vote. It must not treat Memphis as the capital, Nashville as a Memphis suburb, or Middle Tennessee as the whole state. It must not treat a U.S. Senate race as this desk. It must not treat the court-appointed Attorney General as this hire. It must not crown itself.
Nashville is the capital. The people of the district hire the seat. sos.tn.gov is the door.
