Eleven of twenty-one, not a simple even-odd
- Election Day: Tuesday, 3 November 2026
- Nevada held its primary 9 June 2026. Filing closed 13 March 2026. Confirm leftover dates on the Secretary of State.
- The 2026 class is eleven mixed-number districts: 2, 8, 9, 10, 12, 13, 14, 16, 17, 20, 21.
- The other ten — 1, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 11, 15, 18, 19 — stand in 2028. Do not invent a 2026 race for a district that is not on the first list.
This is a regular State Senate election for half the chamber, as nearly as the stagger allows. It is not a U.S. Senate race. Nevada has no Class II and no 2026 U.S. Senate. It is not the Governor race, though Nevada’s Governor is on 2026. It is not the Assembly — that is forty-two seats, a different chamber, all on this Tuesday.
Terms begin the next day — 4 November 2026. The next regular session opens the first Monday of February 2027. 2026 has no regular session unless the Governor calls a special.

A vacancy is a county appointment, not a thread
A resident who was mistreated by a state agency, a confirmation that went sideways, or a district office that would not answer files on official doors: the Senator’s district office, the committee of jurisdiction, the agency the statute actually names, the courts, and — for election process — the Secretary of State and the county clerk. A Facebook thread is not a grievance.
A hole in this chamber is filled by appointment of the board of county commissioners of the county or counties the Senator represented, from the same political party, under NRS 218A — not by a Governor appointment of the Senator, and not by a special as the default. Confirm on nvsos.gov. Do not invent a caucus.
Professional standards for a state employee sit with that agency and with the law the Senate actually wrote. The Attorney General is the state’s lawyer. The Senate is not that complaint box. Send people to leg.state.nv.us and nvsos.gov.
Fire, drought, and a basin night
Relief this chamber actually votes is a statute and an appropriation. A fire year on the Sierra front, a drought on Great Basin ground, a flood on the Truckee or the Carson that is not an ocean, a mine-year docket in a county that is not Clark — mutual aid and emergency years still run through the Governor’s desk first. The Senate’s hour is the bill that funds the 2027 session, the oversight that asks whether the money moved, and the rural hospital or water statute that was already on the calendar. 2026 has no regular session.
Las Vegas is Nevada. It is not the capital. Wendover is Nevada. It is not Utah. Mutual aid with a California or Utah county is real. Those counties do not vote in this chamber.
What four years of Sierra counsel buys
Bills. Confirmations. A state budget in a 120-day odd year. A district office that returns the call from a county that never makes a Strip broadcast. A biennial calendar. Papers a constituent actually needs: a status on a bill, a confirmation notice, a referral to the agency that holds the license.
The staff is the office. A serious Senator is a serious principal: clear priorities, honest casework, no rumor as policy. Carson City is the session. The district is the hire. The rural basin is still the hire.

The day after the election is Nevada's oath
Due process on this hire: a primary on 9 June 2026, a general on 3 November 2026, a term that begins 4 November 2026, a seating at the 1 February 2027 session. Nevada does not run all-mail as the default. Polls, voter ID rules, mail ballots, and registration deadlines belong on nvsos.gov. Do not teach a shortcut.
A vacancy after this election is still a county-board appointment unless the statute actually writes a special. A map fight is a legislative file and a court file. Do not transplant Florida’s even-number rule onto Nevada. Eleven mixed numbers are this class.
The Constitution does not pause because a session is 120 days. Equal protection does not pause because a district is a basin county.

This chamber writes state law that can touch a license, a tax, a school, a prison, a water compact, and a vote. It must not treat the Strip as the capital, Carson City as a casino town, or Clark County as the whole state. It must not treat a U.S. Senate race as this desk — there is no 2026 U.S. Senate here. It must not crown itself.
Carson City is the capital. The people of the district hire the seat. The Secretary of State is the door.
