- The other twenty-five stand in 2028. Do not invent a 2026 race for a district that is not on that list.
This is a regular State Senate election for half the chamber. It is not a U.S. Senate race, though Montana’s Class II is on 2026. It is not the Governor race — Montana’s Governor is 2028. It is not the State House — that is one hundred seats, a different chamber, all on this Tuesday.

A resident who was mistreated by a state agency, a confirmation that went sideways, or a district office that would not answer files on official doors: the Senator’s district office, the committee of jurisdiction, the agency the statute actually names, the courts, and — for election process — the Secretary of State and the county election administrator. A Facebook thread is not a grievance.
A hole in this chamber is filled by appointment of the boards of county commissioners of the county or counties in the district, of the same political party, under MCA 5-2-402 — not by a Governor appointment of the Senator, and not by a special as the default. Fire, ice, and a high-plains night
Relief this chamber actually votes is a statute and an appropriation. A fire year on the Bitterroot, a freeze on the Hi-Line, a drought on eastern farm ground, a flood on the Yellowstone that is not Last Chance Gulch — mutual aid and emergency years still run through the Governor’s desk first.
