This is a regular State Senate election for half the chamber. It is not a U.S. Senate race. Missouri has no Class II and no 2026 U.S. Senate. It is not the Governor race — Missouri’s Governor is 2028. It is not the State House — that is 163 seats, a different chamber, all on this Tuesday.
You are hiring one State Senator in an even-numbered district, for four years, the upper house of state law, advice and consent that is not federal. Read the chamber page before you read a mailer. Eight years is the term-limit clock, not a crown. Confirm who is actually ineligible on senate.mo.gov — not on a thread.

A vacancy is a writ without delay
A resident who was mistreated by a state agency, a confirmation that went sideways, or a district office that would not answer files on official doors: the Senator’s district office, the committee of jurisdiction, the Missouri Ethics Commission where that statute actually reaches, the courts, and — for election process — the Secretary of State and the local election authority. A Facebook thread is not a grievance.
A hole in this chamber is a Governor’s writ of election without delay (Article III, Section 14). Confirm on the Secretary of State. Do not invent a caucus. Do not invent an appointment of the Senator.
Professional standards for a state employee sit with that agency and with the law the Senate actually wrote. The Attorney General is the state’s lawyer. The Senate is not that complaint box. Send people to senate.mo.gov and sos.mo.gov.
River flood, ice, and a Bootheel night
Relief this chamber actually votes is a statute and an appropriation. A Missouri River flood at the bluff, an ice night on I-70, a Bootheel drought, an Ozark tornado year — mutual aid and emergency years still run through the Governor’s desk first. The Senate’s hour is the bill that funds the year after, the oversight that asks whether the money moved, and the rural hospital or road statute that was already on the calendar.
Cape Girardeau is Missouri. It is not Illinois. St. Joseph is Missouri. It is not Kansas. Mutual aid with an Arkansas or Iowa county is real. Those counties do not vote in this chamber.
What an even-numbered class actually buys
Bills. Confirmations. A budget vote. A district office that returns the call from a county that never makes an Arch broadcast. A January-to-May calendar. Papers a constituent actually needs: a status on a bill, a confirmation notice, a referral to the agency that holds the license.
The staff is the office. A serious Senator is a serious principal: clear priorities, honest casework, no rumor as policy. Jefferson City is the session. The district is the hire. St. Louis is not the capital. Kansas City is not the capital.

Due process on this hire: a primary on 4 August 2026, a general on 3 November 2026, a swear-in on 6 January 2027. Missouri does not run all-mail as the default. Polls, photo voter ID rules, absentee rules, and registration deadlines belong on sos.mo.gov. Do not teach a shortcut.
A vacancy after this election is still a writ. A map fight is a commission file and a court file. Do not transplant Michigan’s all-up clock onto Missouri. Do not transplant Mississippi’s odd year. Seventeen even-numbered desks are this class. The other seventeen wait until 2028.
The Constitution does not pause because the session ends in May. Equal protection does not pause because a district is Bootheel.
