- The Constitution puts all thirty-eight State Senate seats on the same quadrennium as the Governor. This chamber is not staggered. Do not invent a 2026 race for a different state’s Senate that sits out this year.
This is a regular State Senate election for the whole chamber. It is not a U.S. Senate race, though Michigan’s Class II is on 2026. It is not the Governor race, though Michigan’s Governor is also on 2026. It is not the State House — that is 110 seats, a different chamber, on the same Tuesday.
Independent Citizens Redistricting Commission lines are the 2026 map unless a court says otherwise. Treat a commission posting and a stay as clocks. Confirm which line this district actually uses on .gov, not on a comment.

A special is a writ, not a thread
A resident who was mistreated by a state agency, a confirmation that went sideways, or a district office that would not answer files on official doors: the Senator’s district office, the committee of jurisdiction, the Michigan Department of State where that statute actually reaches, the courts, and — for election process — the Bureau of Elections and the county clerk. A Facebook thread is not a grievance.
A hole in this chamber is a special election, not a Governor appointment of the Senator. Confirm on the Bureau of Elections. Do not invent a caucus.
Professional standards for a state employee sit with that agency and with the law the Senate actually wrote. The Attorney General is the state’s lawyer. The Senate is not that complaint box. Send people to legislature.mi.gov and mvic.sos.state.mi.us.
Ice, ore, and a peninsula night
Relief this chamber actually votes is a statute and an appropriation. A lake-effect night on the west shore, a UP ice year, a freeze at the Soo, a chemical-year docket on a river that is not the Grand — mutual aid and emergency years still run through the Governor’s desk first. The Senate’s hour is the bill that funds the year after, the oversight that asks whether the money moved, and the rural hospital or road statute that was already on the calendar.
Marquette is Michigan. It is not Wisconsin. Monroe is Michigan. It is not Ohio. Mutual aid with an Indiana or Wisconsin county is real. Those counties do not vote in this chamber.
What four years of two-peninsula counsel buys
Bills. Confirmations. A state budget. A district office that returns the call from a county that never makes a Detroit broadcast. A full-time calendar. Papers a constituent actually needs: a status on a bill, a confirmation notice, a referral to the agency that holds the license.
The staff is the office. A serious Senator is a serious principal: clear priorities, honest casework, no rumor as policy. Lansing is the session. The district is the hire. The UP is still the hire.
Twelve combined years in the Legislature is a clock, not a crown. Confirm who is actually term-limited on the official filing — not on a thread.
Noon January 1 is Michigan's clock
Due process on this hire: a primary on 4 August 2026, a general on 3 November 2026, a swear-in at noon, 1 January 2027. Michigan does not run all-mail as the default. Polls, photo voter ID rules, absent voter ballots, and registration deadlines belong on mvic.sos.state.mi.us. Do not teach a shortcut.
A vacancy after this election is still a special. A map fight is a commission file and a court file. Do not transplant Missouri’s even-number stagger onto Michigan. All thirty-eight seats are this quadrennium.
The Constitution does not pause because a session is long. Equal protection does not pause because a district is a peninsula.
Rights on two peninsulas
Counsel. Property. Peaceable assembly on Capitol Avenue and in a Chippewa County precinct. Equal protection in eighty-three counties. The right to a sample ballot that matches what the machine or the paper actually shows.
This chamber writes state law that can touch a license, a tax, a school, a prison, a Great Lake, and a vote. It must not treat Detroit as the capital, Lansing as a lakeshore, or the Lower Peninsula as the whole state. It must not treat a U.S. Senate race as this desk. It must not crown itself.
Lansing is the capital. The people of the district hire the seat. The MVIC is the door.
