This is a regular Assembly election for the whole chamber. It is not a U.S. House race (New York’s twenty-six congressional seats are a different desk). It is not a U.S. Senate race. New York has no Class II and no 2026 U.S. Senate race. It is not the Governor race, though New York’s Governor is also on 2026. It is not the State Senate.
The 2026 regular session convened 7 January and adjourned 5 June 2026. It is already adjourned. November is the hire for the next two years. Winners take the oath 1 January 2027. This page does not name candidates and does not declare a map winner.
Do not transplant Alabama’s four-year House. Do not invent a Nebraska House — Nebraska has no lower house. Do not call this race a State House of Representatives race. Do not treat Manhattan as the capital.

Hiring an Assembly Member, not a Representative
You are hiring one hundred fifty Members of the Assembly for New York — two years, the people’s house of state law, a full-time session in Albany, an Article VII budget the Governor writes, a district that is still not a congressional map. Read the chamber page before you read a mailer. This is not a U.S. House seat, not a State Senator, not a Governor, and not a Mayor. This is not a “State Representative” title. The constitution says Member of the Assembly.
Winners take office 1 January 2027. That is New York’s clock. California’s first-Monday-in-December rule is not this desk. Confirm on nyassembly.gov.

A hole is a Governor writ, not a caucus
A resident who was mistreated by a state agency, a tax bill that never moved, or a district office that would not answer files on official doors: the Member’s district office, the committee of jurisdiction (often Ways and Means), the Joint Commission on Public Ethics / the ethics door the statute actually names, the courts, and — for election process — the State Board of Elections and the county board. A Facebook thread is not a grievance.
A mid-term hole in this Assembly is a Governor’s writ and a special election (Public Officers Law § 42), not a seat-gift. Impeachment, when it is actually this constitution’s file, is articles in the Assembly and a Senate trial — not a comment. Send people to nyassembly.gov and the State Board of Elections.
Thruway ice, Hudson flood, borough outage
Relief this chamber actually votes is a statute and an appropriation under Article VII. A lake-effect night on the Thruway, a Hudson flood at Albany, a freeze on a Valley orchard, a blackout in a borough that is still not the capital — mutual aid and emergency years still run through the Governor’s desk first. The Assembly’s hour is the appropriation question that asks whether the money moved, and the rural-hospital or North Country statute that was already on the calendar.
Buffalo is New York. It is not Pennsylvania. Plattsburgh is New York. It is not Vermont. Mutual aid with a New Jersey county is real. Those counties do not vote in this chamber.
Casework from a North Country grocery
Bills. An Article VII appropriation bill the Governor submitted. A district office that returns the call from a North Country precinct that never makes the Empire State Plaza news. A January-to-June session long enough that a missed committee day is still a real cost — that sitting already ran. Papers a constituent actually needs: a status on a bill, a fiscal note, a referral to the agency that holds the license.
The staff is the office. A serious Member is a serious principal: clear priorities, honest casework, no rumor as policy. The Capitol is the session. The district is the hire. The grocery is the scale.
The June primary already ran; the oath is New Year's Day
Due process on this hire: a primary that already ran 23 June 2026, a vacancy remainder if one is actually on the ballot, a general on 3 November 2026. Deadlines, absentee ballots, and registration belong on the State Board of Elections. Confirm the live instruction. Do not teach a shortcut.
A vacancy after this election is still a special, not a tweet. A map fight is an Independent Redistricting Commission file, a legislative file, and a court file. Do not transplant another state’s four-year House clock onto New York. All one hundred fifty seats are this even year. Do not transplant Nebraska’s unicameral onto this page. The Constitution does not pause because a session adjourns in June. Equal protection does not pause because a district is a borough or a North Country town. Manhattan does not become the capital because a mailer said so.

This chamber writes state law that can touch a license, a tax, a school, a prison, a river, a Thruway, and a vote. It must not treat Manhattan as the capital, Albany as the harbor, or a borough as the whole state. It must not treat a U.S. House race as this desk. It must not treat the State Senate as this desk. It must not crown itself.
Albany is the capital. The people of the district hire the seat. The county board of elections is the door.
