This is a regular House election for the whole chamber. It is not a U.S. House race (Missouri’s eight congressional seats are a different desk). It is not a U.S. Senate race. Missouri has no Class II and no 2026 U.S. Senate race. It is not the Governor race — Missouri’s Governor is 2028. It is not the State Senate — that is thirty-four seats, seventeen even-numbered this Tuesday.
The 2026 regular session already adjourned 15 May 2026. A veto session sits 16 September 2026. November is the hire for the next two years, not a re-run of the session that just closed.

Two years from the first Wednesday in January
You are hiring one hundred sixty-three Representatives for Missouri — two years, the people’s house of state law, a district small enough to know the grocery even when the Bootheel is far, a floor where a bill may start in either house and appropriations by tradition start here. Read the chamber page before you read a mailer. This is not a U.S. House seat, not a State Senator, not a Governor, and not a Mayor.
Winners take office the first Wednesday after the first Monday in January at noon — Wednesday, 6 January 2027. That is Missouri’s clock. Confirm on house.mo.gov.
A writ without delay, not a caucus
A resident who was mistreated by a state agency, a money bill that never moved, or a district office that would not answer files on official doors: the Representative’s district office, the committee of jurisdiction (often Budget or Ways and Means), ethics doors where that statute actually reaches, the courts, and — for election process — the Secretary of State and the local election authority. A Facebook thread is not a grievance.
A hole in this House is a Governor’s writ without delay (Article III, Section 14), not a caucus gift. Impeachment, when it is actually this constitution’s file, is articles in the House and a Senate trial — not a comment. Send people to house.mo.gov and the Secretary of State.
After a Missouri flood and a Bootheel drought
Relief this chamber actually votes is a statute and an appropriation. A Missouri River flood at the bluff, an ice night on I-70, a drought on Bootheel ground, an Ozark tornado year — mutual aid and emergency years still run through the Governor’s desk first. The House’s hour is the Budget question the year after, and the rural-hospital or levee statute that was already on the calendar.
St. Louis is Missouri. It is not Illinois. Kansas City, Missouri is Missouri. Kansas City, Kansas is Kansas. Mutual aid with an Illinois or Kansas county is real. Those counties do not vote in this chamber.
Casework at grocery scale on one hundred fourteen counties and one independent city
Bills. A bill that may start in either house. A district office that returns the call from a Bootheel precinct that never makes an Arch broadcast. A May Friday at 6 p.m. that already closed the 2026 calendar. Papers a constituent actually needs: a status on a bill, a fiscal note, a referral to the agency that holds the license.
The staff is the office. A serious Representative is a serious principal: clear priorities, honest casework, no rumor as policy. The bluff is the session. The district is the hire. The grocery is the scale.
August already ran; 6 January is the swear-in
Due process on this hire: a primary that already ran 4 August 2026, a vacancy remainder if one is actually on the ballot, a general on 3 November 2026. Photo ID, absentee rules, and registration deadlines belong on the Secretary of State. Do not teach a shortcut.
A vacancy after this election is still a writ. A map fight is an apportionment-commission file and a court file. Do not transplant another state’s origination clause onto Missouri. All one hundred sixty-three seats are this even year. Do not transplant Nebraska’s unicameral onto this page.
The Constitution does not pause because a May session already adjourned. Equal protection does not pause because a district is rural. Eight years is a clock, not a crown.
Rights on a bluff that is not the Arch
Petition. Property. Peaceable assembly on the capitol grounds and in a Bootheel precinct. Equal protection in one hundred fourteen counties, the independent City of St. Louis, and one hundred sixty-three districts. The right to a sample ballot that matches what the machine or the paper actually shows.
This chamber writes state law that can touch a license, a tax, a school, a prison, a river, and a vote. It must not treat St. Louis as the capital, Kansas City as the capital, or the Arch as this chamber’s hall. It must not treat a U.S. House race as this desk. It must not treat the State Senate as this desk. It must not crown itself.
Jefferson City is the capital. The people of the district hire the seat. The Secretary of State is the door.
