The 2026 oval on Judicial Way

This page is the arena for this office. Unique teaching for the job lives on the office twin. The county as a place is taught at Howard County.

It is not a campaign. Names belong on the official sample ballot. No crown.

Ellicott City hires a court Sheriff on a no-town map

Article IV, § 44: four years. The SBE 2026 offices page lists Sheriff as a local office on the gubernatorial ballot — same even-year Tuesday as Governor, Attorney General, State Senate, and House of Delegates.

  • Closed primary: Tuesday, 23 June 2026 (already sat).
  • General: Tuesday, 3 November 2026.
  • Qualify / enter: Art. XVII § 4 — as soon as practicable; immediately upon qualification.
  • Vacancy: Governor appointment for the remainder.

The Governor is 2026. That is not this oval. The County Executive and five Council members sit on the same table — not this oval. Class II U.S. Senate is not a 2026 Maryland race. A Columbia postcard does not hire this badge. Baltimore County already hired its own court Sheriff. There is no Mayor of Ellicott City.

Board of Elections sits on Patuxent Woods Drive in Columbia

9770 Patuxent Woods Drive, Suite 200, Columbia, MD 21045. Not 9250 Judicial Way. Not Court House Drive. Not Towson. Confirm registration, sample ballot, early voting (22–29 October 2026 on the live SBE page), and mail-in on elections.maryland.gov and voter lookup.

Sample ballot in the mill town, not Baltimore

Do not take names from a lakefront rumor or a Baltimore broadcast.

  1. Official candidate list / sample ballot — Maryland SBE
  2. Voter lookup
  3. Current Sheriff of record — official Howard County Sheriff listing

If a site and the official sample ballot disagree, the sample ballot wins.

What you are hiring — Judicial Way, not Warfield Police

You are hiring the Sheriff of Howard County — judicial security, summonses, warrants, prisoner transport, landlord-tenant process, not 911. You are not hiring Howard County Police. You are not hiring the Department of Corrections in Jessup. You are not hiring the Montgomery County Sheriff. You are not hiring the Governor.

Read the office page for Jessup as not this house.

Remedy when a writ misses Savage

A bad service or a court paper that missed Elkridge — this Sheriff’s door and the courts. The County Executive is not the internal-affairs substitute for a paper. Not a comment section. Not Towson.

Relief when the Patapsco takes Main Street

A mill-town flood, ice on I-70, a closure at U.S. 29 — this county’s mutual aid first. Montgomery’s I-270 is a different count. Baltimore County’s doughnut is a different count.

Service — papers, court, not Jessup booking

Papers. A Judicial Way courtroom. Night hours the office actually posts. Transport to a house this Sheriff does not run. That is the purchase. 911 remains County Police.

Due process does not wait for a Columbia postcard

A levy in Clarksville still needs notice. Confirmation of sale is still the court. The Constitution does not pause because a visitor photographed a different planned city.

Rights from Elkridge to Lisbon

Equal protection on the Patapsco map. Counsel. Property. A Savage mill worker and a Lisbon farmer hire the same Sheriff.
