Voter-education briefing for the 2027 Mayor race in Salt Lake City, Utah. Confirm names, dates, and the sample ballot on official election sites — not on social media. Not 2026. Last Mayor election was 21 November 2023. Next regular municipal election for Mayor is Tuesday 3 November 2027.

This is Side Two

This page is the arena for this office, this cycle. Unique teaching for the job lives on the office twin.

It is not a campaign. Names belong on the official sample ballot.

When

  • Next regular Mayor election: Tuesday 3 November 2027 (four-year odd-year clock; last Mayor election 21 November 2023)
  • Not 2026. Salt Lake City does not elect a Mayor in even federal years. The City Attorney’s candidate page lists Mayor among the 2027 seats, with the general on November 3, 2027.

This is not a Governor race. Utah’s Governor clock is a different office. St. George is not this valley. The Wasatch Front is not the whole state.

Who is on the ballot

Do not take names from a news comment or a text thread.

  1. Official candidate list — City Attorney, information for candidates
  2. slc.gov
  3. Current Mayor of record — Mayor’s Office
  4. Registration — vote.utah.gov

If a site and the official sample ballot disagree, the sample ballot wins. Ranked-choice was used in 2023. Verify the 2027 method on the official candidate guide when posted.

What you are hiring

You are hiring the Mayor of Salt Lake City for this city — four years, strong-mayor charter, seven district council members as the check. Read the office page first. Politics, law, technology, justice, ministry, education, intelligence, and outreach on this land are the job. Not a slogan.

Remedy — a Front complaint is a city paper

A resident who was mistreated files on the city’s official complaint and professional-standards doors, not on a comment section. Police civilian review as the city actually staffs it, fire investigation, the City Council as a check, and the courts. The Salt Lake County Sheriff is not this Mayor’s complaint box. Send people to slc.gov.

Relief — canyon fire and inversion before the state desk

A canyon wildfire night, an inversion that sits on the valley, a winter outage on the west side. Mutual aid with surrounding cities is real. Those cities are not Salt Lake City’s firehouse. The Governor’s emergency desk is later. This hydrant is first.

Service — what a Wasatch hire actually buys

Papers the city has to serve. Transports. A plow on a bench street. A ladder company downtown. Streetlights. A 311 that tells the truth. The staff is the office. A serious Mayor is a serious principal: clear priorities, honest service, no rumor as policy.

Due process — odd-year November, not a 2026 transplant

Arrest, booking, presentment, property, permits, hearings. The Constitution does not pause because a radio is busy. Civil service and union clocks are real. Do not teach a shortcut. Do not move this race onto the 2026 statewide ballot.

Rights — the west side is on this hire too

Counsel. Property. Peaceable assembly on Washington Square and in the neighborhoods. Equal protection from Glendale to the Avenues. The Mayor is a servant of this city, not a brand. St. George does not vote here. This valley does.
