- Not 2026. Lincoln does not elect a Mayor in even federal years. Lancaster County and the Lincoln charter set this race on the May municipal clock.
This is not a Governor race and not a Unicameral race. Nebraska’s statewide ballot is a different office. You are not hiring a state senator.

What you are hiring
You are hiring the Mayor of Lincoln for this city — four years, strong-mayor charter, seven-member Council as the check. Read the office page first. Politics, law, technology, justice, ministry, education, intelligence, and outreach on this land are the job. Not a slogan. Omaha is a different city. The Unicameral is a different office.
Remedy — when a Lincoln street went wrong
A resident who was mistreated files on the city’s official complaint and professional-standards doors, not on a comment section. Internal affairs for police, fire investigation for fire, the City Council as a check, and the courts. The county courthouse is not the Mayor’s complaint box. Send people to lincoln.ne.gov and UPLNK.
Relief — Salt Creek before the state desk
Prairie flood, blizzard, heat, a tornado-warned night, a wreck on I-80 through the city. Mutual aid with surrounding cities is real. Omaha is not Lincoln’s firehouse. The Governor’s emergency desk is later. This hydrant is first.
Service — O Street is the job
Papers the city has to serve. Transports. A plow on a prairie hill. A ladder company in the Haymarket. Streetlights. The staff is the office. A serious Mayor is a serious principal: clear priorities, honest UPLNK, no rumor as policy.
Due process — May municipal is the clock
Arrest, booking, presentment, property, permits, hearings. The Constitution does not pause because a radio is busy. Civil service and union clocks are real. The charter sets the primary four weeks before the May general. Do not teach a shortcut.
Rights — Havelock to Belmont
Counsel. Property. Peaceable assembly on the capitol grounds and in the neighborhoods. Equal protection from every district. The Mayor is a servant of this city, not a brand.
