Voter-education briefing for the May 2027 Mayor race in Lincoln, Nebraska. Confirm names, dates, and the sample ballot on official election sites — not on social media. Not 2026. Last Mayor election was 2 May 2023. Next regular municipal election for Mayor is May 2027 on the four-year odd-year clock. The Unicameral is a different office.

This is Side Two

This page is the arena for this office, this cycle. Unique teaching for the job lives on the office twin.

It is not a campaign. Names belong on the official sample ballot.

When — May 2027, not 2026

  • Next regular Mayor election: May 2027 (four-year odd-year clock; last Mayor election 2 May 2023; primary four weeks earlier)
  • Not 2026. Lincoln does not elect a Mayor in even federal years. Lancaster County and the Lincoln charter set this race on the May municipal clock.

This is not a Governor race and not a Unicameral race. Nebraska’s statewide ballot is a different office. You are not hiring a state senator.

Who is on the ballot

Do not take names from a news comment or a text thread.

  1. Official candidate list / sample ballot — Lancaster County Election Commissioner
  2. City of Lincoln — lincoln.ne.gov
  3. Current Mayor of record — Mayor’s Office
  4. Registration — Nebraska Secretary of State

If a site and the official sample ballot disagree, the sample ballot wins. The Mayor race is officially nonpartisan on the municipal ballot.

What you are hiring

You are hiring the Mayor of Lincoln for this city — four years, strong-mayor charter, seven-member Council as the check. Read the office page first. Politics, law, technology, justice, ministry, education, intelligence, and outreach on this land are the job. Not a slogan. Omaha is a different city. The Unicameral is a different office.

Remedy — when a Lincoln street went wrong

A resident who was mistreated files on the city’s official complaint and professional-standards doors, not on a comment section. Internal affairs for police, fire investigation for fire, the City Council as a check, and the courts. The county courthouse is not the Mayor’s complaint box. Send people to lincoln.ne.gov and UPLNK.

Relief — Salt Creek before the state desk

Prairie flood, blizzard, heat, a tornado-warned night, a wreck on I-80 through the city. Mutual aid with surrounding cities is real. Omaha is not Lincoln’s firehouse. The Governor’s emergency desk is later. This hydrant is first.

Service — O Street is the job

Papers the city has to serve. Transports. A plow on a prairie hill. A ladder company in the Haymarket. Streetlights. The staff is the office. A serious Mayor is a serious principal: clear priorities, honest UPLNK, no rumor as policy.

Due process — May municipal is the clock

Arrest, booking, presentment, property, permits, hearings. The Constitution does not pause because a radio is busy. Civil service and union clocks are real. The charter sets the primary four weeks before the May general. Do not teach a shortcut.

Rights — Havelock to Belmont

Counsel. Property. Peaceable assembly on the capitol grounds and in the neighborhoods. Equal protection from every district. The Mayor is a servant of this city, not a brand.
