Randolph County, Alabama, was erected 18 December 1832 from the Creek cession at Cusseta and named for John Randolph of Roanoke. The first seat was Hedgeman Triplett’s Ferry on the Tallapoosa, about ten miles west of Wedowee. The county seat moved to Wedowee in 1835. Wedowee is the seat. Roanoke is the large town.
