Montgomery County, Arkansas, was created 9 December 1842 from Hot Spring and named for Richard Montgomery. Encyclopedia of Arkansas: quartz-crystal country, Ouachita National Forest over sixty percent of the land, Lake Ouachita (Arkansas’s largest lake by surface, with western arms on this map), and the Ouachita, Caddo, and Little Missouri rivers. 2020 population 8,484.
