Lonoke County, Arkansas, was created 16 April 1873 from Pulaski and Prairie as the state’s 70th county. Live Sheriff site: the name comes from a lone oak a railroad surveyor used as a landmark on the site of the present seat. Among Arkansas’s 75 counties, this is the only one that shares its name with its county seat. Lonoke the city is the hall. Cabot is the largest city in the county. It is not the hall.
