A student who only knows a campus photograph has not found Opelika.

Crime in Auburn is often Auburn Police. Crime in Smiths Station is often Smiths Station Police. The Lee County Detention Center at 1900 Frederick Road is this Sheriff’s house. The county’s own briefing is honest: it is Lee’s only operating adult jail, a consolidated house that also holds people from Auburn and Opelika municipal cases, 424 beds on the Sheriff’s corrections page. Ala. Code § 14-6-1 still puts the jail on this Sheriff. It is not a Warden-department split. It is not Fort Myers. Juvenile holding is a separate Youth Development Center — not this adult house. ALEA is the state. Civil process and court security at 215 South Ninth and 2311 Gateway are the Sheriff. Rights do not change at the campus gate. Remedy for Auburn Police is the City. Remedy for a Sheriff’s paper is the Sheriff. Relief when I-85 floods is this count first.
