Cleburne County, Arkansas

Cleburne County · Heber Springs, Arkansas · the youngest seat sits here · Heflin is not this hall · Cleburne, Texas, is not this hall
Heber Springs is the hall. Greers Ferry is not the hall. This is not Cleburne County, Alabama.
Cleburne County, Arkansas, was created 20 February 1883 from parts of Independence, Van Buren, and White. It is the 75th and last Arkansas county — the youngest. Named for Patrick R. Cleburne. Association of Arkansas Counties: Heber Springs is the county seat. The 1883 act named Sugar Loaf as the temporary seat; that town became Heber Springs. 2020 census: 24,711. Greers Ferry is a city. Quitman straddles Faulkner. Fairfield Bay is mostly Van Buren. None of those is the hall. This is not Cleburne County, Alabama (Heflin) — already unique. This is not Cleburne, Texas. Little Rock is the capital of Arkansas. It does not sit here.
This page is Side One for the place. The Sheriff’s job — lake-and-ridge patrol and the Ninth Street detention house this badge still holds — is taught at Office of the Sheriff — Cleburne County.
Eleven JPs. County Judge at 300 West Main. They do not sit in Heflin as this county.
Cleburne is an elected eleven-member Quorum Court. Justices of the peace sit two years. The County Judge is the chief executive (Amendment 55), presides, has no vote, and holds the veto. County Judge offices sit at 300 West Main Street, Heber Springs, AR 72543 (phone 501-362-8141). They fund roads, the 1914 courthouse, and the Sheriff’s budget. They do not hire the Sheriff. The people do. Heber Springs City Council is a city body.
The courthouse lists at 301 West Main Street (16th Judicial Circuit). County Clerk: 300 West Main. Circuit Clerk: 301 West Main. Separate Collector at 320 West Main. An Alabama rumor is not this county. Greers Ferry as the hall is not this county. Cleburne, Texas, as the hall is not this county.
The Sheriff is four years, Art. 7 § 46, 2026 with the Governor. Take office 1 January 2027. The Mayor of Heber Springs is a city clock.
Greers Ferry Lake, Little Red, Ozark foothills. Little Rock is the capital.
Highway 25 is the through road. Greers Ferry Dam (completed 1962) made a reservoir of about forty thousand acres. Little Red River trout water sits below the dam. Rugged north, rolling south. Stone is north. Independence is northeast. White is southeast — Searcy is that hall. Faulkner is southwest. Van Buren is west — Clinton is that hall. Staff who paste a Heflin skyline onto West Main, or treat Greers Ferry as this hall, or file “Cleburne, Texas, as this Sheriff,” are on the wrong county.
How a Heber Springs public finds the Cleburne desk
County Judge / County Clerk: 300 West Main Street, Heber Springs, AR 72543. Courthouse / Circuit Clerk: 301 West Main. Sheriff HQ and Jail: 914 South 9th Street. Confirm addresses on cleburnecountyar.com and cleburnearso.gov. A student who only knows a Heflin photograph, or only a Texas courthouse, or only a lake postcard as the whole government, has not found Heber Springs.
Ninth Street still jails. Confirm the live door. Heber Springs municipal does not.
Crime in unincorporated Cleburne — Greers Ferry country, Quitman (the Cleburne share), Concord, Higden, Edgemont, lake roads off Highway 25 — is this Sheriff. Crime in Heber Springs is often Heber Springs Police. Crime in Greers Ferry is often municipal first. This Sheriff is not a town police department as the whole map. Current listings put detention at 914 South 9th Street. No separate county Department of Corrections turned up on the official doors — do not invent a jailer split. Do not send a family looking for a county booking to Heflin or to Cleburne, Texas. Civil process and courthouse security at 301 West Main are the Sheriff. Rights do not change on the lake. Remedy for city police is the City. Remedy for a Sheriff’s paper is the Sheriff. Relief when the lake rises or a ridge road ices is this count first.
Care without inventing a mineral-spring chapel as this county
A peace order served in Concord. A transport from the Ninth Street jail to 301 West Main without becoming Greers Ferry municipal. Do not invent a church. Do not invent Heflin as this badge. Do not invent Cleburne, Texas, as this hall. The seven mineral springs in the city park are not a second Sheriff.
What Cleburne actually watches
Court calendar on the square. A wreck on Highway 25. High water on Greers Ferry Lake. A night road toward Higden. Ice toward Quitman. Coordination with Heber Springs PD, Greers Ferry municipal, Quitman municipal, and ASP without becoming those departments. Coordination with Van Buren’s Sheriff or White’s Sheriff is mutual aid between two offices, not a merger. A Heflin photograph does not steal the seat. A lake postcard does not steal the seat.
