Arapahoe County, Colorado, is a real American county on the Front Range, not a California remainder and not a Denver neighborhood with a new name. The county seat is Littleton. County government sits at the Arapahoe County Administration Building, 5334 South Prince Street, Littleton, CO 80120. Denver is the capital of Colorado — and Denver is also a City and County, a consolidated government northwest of this map. Do not file Denver as this hall. Do not file Aurora as this hall. Aurora is the most populous city that touches this county; it straddles Arapahoe, Adams, and Denver. Largest city is not the shire.
The county calls itself Colorado’s First County because the original Arapahoe of Kansas Territory and Colorado Territory antedated the Pike’s Peak Gold Rush. That origin story is history, not a license to treat 1902 Denver as still inside this oval. When Denver became a city and county, this Arapahoe became the remainder south and east. Staff who paste “Denver City/County as this government,” or “Adams as this oval,” or a Pacific photograph onto Prince Street, are on the wrong county.

Arapahoe County elects a five-member Board of County Commissioners. They meet and fund at 5334 South Prince Street. They do not sit as the Colorado General Assembly. They do not sit as Denver City Council. They do not hire the Sheriff — the people of this county do, under Article XIV, § 8 and C.R.S. § 30-10-501. The eastern map is a long High Plains arm: Foxfield, unincorporated remainder, Byers, Deer Trail, the Arapahoe side of Bennett and Strasburg, out toward Lincoln and Washington. Cherry Creek and the South Platte are the water this county actually has. Cherry Creek Reservoir is a reservoir. It is not a bay. It is not a coast. Colorado has no ocean.
I-25 is the north–south spine. I-225 cuts the Aurora/Centennial band. E-470 and C-470 belt the metro. I-70 is the eastern High Plains highway, not a beach road. Adams County is north — Brighton is that seat, not this one. Jefferson County is west — Golden is that seat. Douglas County is south — Castle Rock is that seat. Elbert meets the eastern arm. The City and County of Denver is the capital, not a precinct of this board.

Care without inventing a Rocky Mountain postcard as this county government
Property records, public-health partnerships, unincorporated roads, disaster comfort, burial and welfare calls the county actually makes — those are local government. Do not invent a church as this county. Do not invent Rocky Mountain National Park as a landmark inside this oval — that park is Larimer and Grand. A mountain photograph can orient a reader to Colorado. It does not move the seat from Littleton, and it does not put an ocean on the High Plains.
What Arapahoe County actually watches
Jail count at Potomac. Court docket at the Justice Center. Hail and flash flood on the Front Range. Prairie fire and blizzard east of Gun Club Road. I-25 and I-225 wrecks. Fire restrictions the Sheriff posts as Fire Warden. Election calendars the Clerk posts — Colorado mails a ballot to every active registered voter; there is no separate absentee application on the ordinary clock. That is this state’s method, not a California polling-place rumor.
Outreach that only speaks Aurora, or that treats unincorporated Byers as a postcard, is not covering the map. The towns with their own PD — Aurora, Littleton, Englewood, Greenwood Village, Cherry Hills Village, Sheridan, Glendale — are cities. Centennial, Foxfield, Deer Trail, and the Arapahoe portion of Bennett still talk to this Sheriff.
